Dadu: Ten couples tied knot in a mass wedding ceremony of STEP Foundation in Sita Town of Dadu district on Sunday.
The brides hailing from Sita and Khairpur Nathan Shah towns were brought in marriage hall wearing red wedding clothes and jewelry while the grooms wore traditional Sindhi cap, Ajrak and white Shalwar Kamees. Some of them had white turbans. Parents of brides and grooms and other relatives attended wedding ceremony.
The grooms were Manzoor Channa, Yasir Channa, Waqar Mallah, Rafique Janwry, Zameer Panhwar, Zakir Chandio, Shahid Panhwar, Furqan Janwry, Zahid Chandio and Irfan Panhwar.
Shaista Baloch of STEP foundation said that mass wedding ceremony was held as poor girls and boys cannot afford expenditures of marriage. She said that her organization also arranged dowry and household stuff. Each couple has been provided with a copy of Holy Quran, a prayer mat, cupboard, bed, sewing machine, fan, clock, dinner set, tea set and other things costing of Rs.2 lacs.
A mother of groom Manzoor told media persons that she wished her son to marry but was not possible owing to poverty. She thanked STEP Foundation for making it possible.
