Clinics Run By Quacks SealedSindh Healthcare Commission issues warning to 1955 private healthcare establishments; 10974 healthcare establishments apply for registration

Karachi: As many as 3547 clinics run by the quacks have been sealed in Sindh by the Directorate of Anti-Quackery, an official handout said on Wednesday.

The directorate also issued warnings to 1955 healthcare establishments during its team’s visit to 6,515 establishments.

Directorate of Licensing & Accreditation of Sindh Healthcare Commission received 33 new applications for registration during this week. Till date total number of applications received for registration is 10,974. However Registration Certificates were issued to 14 healthcare establishments during current week bringing total number of registration certificates issued to 9841. Till date 239 provisional licenses were issued to different healthcare establishments.

Further, Directorate of Complaints received till date a total of 140 complaints out of which 100 complaints were disposed of, 30 complaints are under process while 8 are sub judice, handout said.

It may be mentioned that Sindh Healthcare Commission under the supervision of Acting CEO Dr. Farhana Memon has initiated collaborative action plan across the province for registration of Healthcare Establishments, wherein multiple training sessions for general practitioners, establishments, Hakeems beside inspections for unregistered healthcare establishments and field visits by anti-quackery and inspection team were conducted. Field teams have fined 13 unregistered healthcare establishments so far and the process will continue as a routine activity.

Dr. Farhana Memon also visited training session arranged in Hyderabad which was attended by 30 participants from each category.

Directorates of Licensing & Accreditation, Complaints and Anti-Quackery gave briefing on their respective areas. The session ended with certificates distribution by Dr. Farhana Memon. A meeting with DG Health was also conveyed. (PR)
