All Pakistan Inter-University Girls Judo Championship was inaugurated by the vice chancellors of five universities of Sindh

The first All Pakistan Inter-University Girls Judo Championship started under the auspices of Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam on Monday.

The All Pakistan Inter-University Girls Judo Championship started at the SAU sports complex, which was inaugurated by the vice chancellors of five universities of Sindh – Vice Chancellor of Sindh Agriculture University Dr. Fateh Marri, Vice Chancellor of Quaid Awam University of Engineering University & Technology Nawabshah Dr. Saleem Raza Samo, Vice Chancellor of Government College University Hyderabad Dr. Tayyaba Zareef, Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Dr. Farooq Mateen and Vice Chancellor of Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University Sukkur Dr. Tehmina Mangan.

SAU-Judo-Championship-Sindh-Courier-1Some 120 girl players from 16 Universities of the country along with the host Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam are participating in the championship. The players are from Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Peshawar, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, the University of Management and Science Technology Lahore, Lahore Garrison University Lahore, University of Lucki Marwat, University of Veterinary Sciences Lahore, Punjab University Lahore, University of Veterinary Sciences Lahore, Superior University Lahore, Khawaja Farid Nawaz University Rahim Yar Khan, Islamia University Bahawalpur, Lahore College for Women University Lahore, Mehran University Jamshoro, Karachi University, Sir Syed University Karachi and the University of Lahore are competing for the title of champion 2022-23.

SAU-Judo-Championship-Sindh-Courier-2On the first day, in the 40 kg category, Rida Ashraf of Punjab University won the medal by defeating Umma Habiba of Lahore College for Women University, Rida Ashraf of Lahore College for Women won the second position in the same category and she got the silver medal by getting the position while Azra of Khawaja Farid Nawaz University Rahim Yar Khan won the bronze medal and got the third position.

SAU-Judo-Championship-Sindh-Courier-3In the 44Kg weight category, Kainat of Garrison University, Lahore won the gold medal by defeating Jawaria Shakeel of Punjab University, Lahore, Saira of University of Management Sciences, Lahore took the third position and won the brown medal.

In the 48Kg category, Mehroz Gul of Garrison University, Lahore won the gold medal by securing the first position, while Aqsa Khalid of Punjab University secured the silver medal by securing the second position.

SAU-Judo-Championship-Sindh-Courier-4In the open category, Monisha Ali of Lahore Garrison University won the gold medal by securing the first position, while Noor Saba of Punjab University secured the silver medal by securing the second position. Fatima of Veterinary University Lahore won the third position and bronze medal, while the competition between the teams continued.

SAU-Judo-Championship-Sindh-Courier-5While addressing the opening ceremony, Vice Chancellor of Sindh Agriculture University, Dr. Fateh Marri said that the women of Sindh have become ‘not a fragile gender, but an iron gender’, who can now change the traditions, He said that the university will provide them more opportunities for healthy activities, and The number of girls in the university is increasing rapidly, to whom Sindh Agricultural University will provide more sports opportunities.

Dr. Tayyaba Zareef, Vice Chancellor of Government College University, Hyderabad said that it is a positive thing that female students from 16 universities of Pakistan have gathered at the SAU at the same time for sports competitions.

Dr. Farooq Mateen, Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Sakrand said that Sindh Agriculture University has encouraged girls through sports competitions.

On this occasion, Director Sports Anwar Hussain Khanzada informed the guests about the championship.

Deans of various faculties Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal, Dr. Ghiyasuddin Shah Rashidi, Registrar Ghulam Mohiuddin Qureshi, and Hostel Provost Khadim Hussain Wagan, Shaukat Hussain Sangi, and Mohammad Umar Dasti, sports officers, teachers and students of various universities of Pakistan participated. (PR)
