SEOUL: The Asia Journalists Association (AJA) recently held an extraordinary board meeting and elected Lee Ki-woo, former Vice Minister of Education, as its 7th Chairman. He succeeds Chairman Koo Bon-hong.

At the extraordinary board meeting held at the Seoul Press Center on May 4, the election of the new Chairman took place alongside extensive discussions on the association’s organizational restructuring, the concept for the Asia Press Center (APC), and measures to strengthen the Asian network.

In his farewell address, former Chairman Koo Bon-hong said, “I hope the Board of Directors becomes a structure that actually moves and executes, rather than a mere gathering,” adding, “New passion and execution power are needed for the Association to pass on to the next generation.”

Former Vice-Minister Lee Ki-woo, elected as the new Chairman, said, “Rather than the title of Chairman, I want to play the role of a ‘sales representative’ who ensures the organization operates properly.”

“I will create a Board where all members share the Association’s direction and tasks and participate responsibly,” he added.

Chairman Lee presented the restoration of the Association’s status as a designated donation organization as a core task.

He said, “I will expedite the reorganization of the system and conditions to receive re-designation as a designated donation organization.”

“I will ensure that the Asia Journalists Association establishes itself as an organization with public interest and capabilities to carry out international cooperation and the tasks of the times.”

Regarding the supplementation of the existing operational system, it was announced that “former chairpersons will be appointed as advisors, and existing directors as honorary directors. The operational structure will be reorganized to center on directors capable of actual activities.

New Chairman Lee Ki-woo currently serves as the Director of the Institute of Korean Studies and has previously served as Vice Minister of Education, President of Incheon JaeNeung University, Chairman of the Korea Teachers Mutual Aid Association, and CEO of Gyeongin Broadcasting.

Discussions regarding the vision for the Asia Press Center (APC) also continued at the meeting. Attendees, including Directors Bae Ki-seon, Oh Ji-cheol, Kim Geun-sang, and Ko Myeong-jin, shared the view that the APC should not be merely a building, but a platform connecting Asia.

Director Bae Ki-seon said, “Based on the experience and network built by the Asia Journalists Association, it can serve as a new focal point for Asia.”

Director Oh Ji-cheol emphasized, “Now that South Korea’s international standing has risen, the role of the Asia Journalists Association is more important than ever.”

Director Kim Geun-sang said, “It is crucial to connect and represent the small voices of Asia and marginalized neighbors,” adding, “I hope the establishment of the Asia Press Center will serve as a space for fulfilling such a role.”

Director Ko Myeong-jin introduced a local photography project currently underway in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province, and proposed the creation of a memorial space for journalists who died in the line of duty at the Asia Journalists Association level.

By Regina Resta

On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the award ceremony of the Ethical Journalism Prize “Lights of Truth” took place in Rome at the Ministry of Culture – Spadolini Hall, Via del Collegio Romano 27. The initiative, promoted by the Cultural Association VerbumlandiArt APS at the instigation of Manfredi Potenti, was created to highlight journalism capable of combining rigor, courage, and ethical responsibility in a historical phase marked by disinformation and a crisis of trust in public storytelling.

The “Lights of Truth” Award does not position itself in competition with other recognitions, but rather as a space of light, reflection, and gratitude toward those who defend truth as a common good. The conception and organization of the initiative were entrusted to Regina Resta, President of VerbumlandiArt APS and of the Award; Maria Pia Turiello, President of the Scientific Committee and Vice President of the Award; and Mirella Cristina, lawyer and journalist, member of the Scientific Committee. Further authority was provided by the Honorary Committee, which includes Nico Spuntoni, Francesco Mura, Francesco Lenoci, Goffredo Palmerini, Roberto Sciarrone, and Vinicio Leonetti, prominent figures in the journalistic and cultural landscape.

Among the Italian award recipients are H.E. Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Anna Maria Esposito, Brunella Bolloli, David Parenzo, Giovan Battista Brunori, Giulia Sorrentino, Manuela Sain, Maria Rita Grieco, Marilena Vinci, Massimo Giraldi, and Silvia Grassi.

The foreign award recipients section, proposed by the international cultural promoter, includes Aleksander Cipa (Albania), Alketa Gashi Fazliu (Kosovo), Tarana Turan Rahimi (Azerbaijan), and Marinellys Tremamunno (Venezuela), further confirming the increasingly international profile of the initiative. Significant space is also dedicated to the younger generation, with youth award recipients Angelo Baracco, Antonio Errigo, Federica Tomasello, and Mulengezi Adolphe Mihingano, in support of emerging talent and responsible journalism looking toward the future.

The awards presented during the ceremony are original and unique works by the Salento-based artist Tommaso Filieri (Galatone, Lecce), handcrafted and conceived as authentic and unrepeatable symbols of the ethical value of the profession.

Rome, the institutional and cultural heart of the country, hosted the Ethical Journalism Award “Lights of Truth” at the Ministry of Culture, a venue of great symbolic value, strengthening the link between information, civic responsibility, and democratic heritage. All media outlets are following the initiative closely, recognizing its national and international significance in promoting conscious, independent journalism oriented toward the common good.

The Spadolini Hall, located within the Ministry of Culture (MiC) in Rome, is named after Giovanni Spadolini, Italian historian, journalist, and politician, founder and first Minister for Cultural and Environmental Heritage in 1974. It symbolizes the birth of the Ministry, which separated from the Ministry of Public Education in order to independently safeguard Italy’s cultural and environmental heritage. As a historian and man of culture, Spadolini conceived the Ministry not as a bureaucratic body, but as a dedication to the protection of Italy’s artistic and historical heritage, viewing it as a living resource for the nation.

Born into modest means in the northern city of Muharraq, Isa Al Shaiji’s early years were defined by a relentless hunger for knowledge

In 2025, his appointment as Chairman of Al Ayam’s Editorial Board solidified his status as a mentor and visionary

Habib Toumi

In a world where media often walks a tightrope between tradition and transformation, one man has stood as a steady, principled figure through five decades of evolution. Isa Al Shaiji, the veteran journalist and Editor-in-Chief of Al Ayam, has just been named the 2025 Journalism Personality of the Year. But his journey—from a humble childhood in Muharraq to shaping Bahrain’s media landscape—is more than a personal success story. It’s a chronicle of a profession’s coming-of-age.

Al Shaiji being honored by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister with the 2025 Journalism Personality Award

A Childhood Framed by Books and Ambition

Born into modest means in the northern city of Muharraq, Isa Al Shaiji’s early years were defined by a relentless hunger for knowledge. Frequenting the neighborhood club’s magazine collection, he developed a love for reading and a spark for critical thought and analysis—traits that would eventually define his journalistic voice.

English lessons taken during his youth opened up new worlds of information. This linguistic edge gave him access to diverse international perspectives, allowing him to cultivate the depth and nuance that would mark his work for decades to come.

From History Student to Newsroom Pioneer

Al Shaiji’s decision to study history at a Syrian university enabled him to fuse political analysis with journalistic training, creating a lens through which he would later interpret and explain the region’s most complex developments.

His official entry into journalism came in the 1970s with the Gulf News Agency, a pioneering move that would eventually lead him to help establish the Bahrain News Agency. Covering local and regional affairs at a time of great geopolitical upheaval, he became one of the few voices capable of blending speed with accuracy.

But it was in 1989, with the launch of Al Ayam, that Al Shaiji’s editorial vision found its true platform. Starting as a foreign affairs editor, he quickly rose to managing editor and later, in 2001, succeeded Nabeel Al Hamer as Editor-in-Chief. His leadership would define an era.

Al Shaiji (L) with Nabeel Al Hamer

Modernizing the Bahraini Media

At Al Ayam, Al Shaiji oversaw sweeping reforms—modern layouts, fresh journalistic talent, and digital innovations. Yet, his focus was never just on aesthetics. He championed editorial independence, rigorous ethics, and a storytelling style that resonated both locally and across the Gulf.

He was never one for sensationalism. Known for his calm, sober demeanor, “Abu Ali,” as he is affectionately called, earned trust through balance and integrity. He believed journalism was not a battleground, but a space for clarity, dialogue, and progress.

In 2025, his appointment as Chairman of Al Ayam’s Editorial Board solidified his status as a mentor and visionary, still shaping newsroom policy while staying connected to his roots as a writer and commentator.

A Champion for Journalists’ Rights

Al Shaiji’s influence extended far beyond the newsroom. As a founding member and later president of the Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA), he was instrumental in drafting and lobbying for the long-stalled Press, Printing, and Publishing Law. His advocacy struck a rare balance: defending press freedom while promoting accountability and professional standards.

He also represented Bahrain on the global stage, earning recognition from the Brussels-based International Federation of Journalists (IFJ). He became also President and Secretary-General of the Gulf Journalists Union. In every role, his goal was the same—elevate the profession, protect its practitioners, and deepen its societal impact.

Legacy of a Lifelong Writer

Despite ascending to some of the most influential media roles in the Gulf, Isa Al Shaiji never stopped writing. His columns—analytical, tempered, and deeply patriotic—became a fixture in public discourse. He continued attending conferences, mentoring youth, and encouraging the next generation to embrace ethics, rigor, and a deep love for country and truth.

His story is not just that of an editor or an advocate. It is the story of a builder—of institutions, of talent, of trust.

Honoring a Life in Service to the Word

The 2025 Journalism Personality of the Year award is more than a personal accolade. It is, in many ways, a tribute to a generation of journalists who laid the foundation of modern Bahraini media. Isa Al Shaiji did not chase headlines; he made space for others to write them with integrity.

As values shift and standards blur in the digital age, his legacy stands firm: journalism as a pillar of national development, and truth as a lifelong pursuit.

He lived by and for the word. In today’s media landscape, few compliments could carry more weight.

[Asia Journalist Association (AJA), founded in 2004, is an international journalist association that operates under the motto of “One Line of Truth through Sweat and Blood” with the goal of fair reporting, protecting freedom of the press, and developing journalism. To commemorate its 20th anniversary, AJA reports a special feature article that looks back on the association’s 20 years history and key events of 20 years of AJA member countries, which is a collaborative content in Southeast Asia and Central Asia. THE AsiaN, an outlet based on the AJA network, reports a special article on the 20th anniversary of the founding of AJA 10 times every Tuesday and Friday starting April 15, 2025. – Editor’s note]

By Ivan Lim

SINGAPORE: The Cold War gave rise to two rival blocs of journalists: International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and Federation of International Journalists (FIJ).

Divided by ideologies of liberal democracy and communism, the IFJ and FIJ vied for influence among media practitioners in Asia.

The Brussels-based IFJ had a head start over FIJ in recruiting members from so-called free-world countries, including India, South Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

At one point, a top official from FIJ, Sergei Artyemov, made contact with us in the Singapore National Union of Journalist (SNUJ), then hosting the rotating presidency of the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists (CAJ) He was keen for FIJ to take part in CAJ activities.

SNUJ was neither an IFJ nor FIJ member. But the Press Club of the Philippines was affiliated to both federations, and one of its prominent officials was inducted into the FIJ policy-making ranks.

Interestingly, during a CAJ meeting, he proposed a resolution on establishing a nuclear-free zone in South-east Asia. It was, to me then, a political issue outside our purview.

Despite not being a member, SNUJ was contacted by the IFJ regarding the plight of a Vietnamese editor who had fled Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) after the Communists took control in the 1970s.

Ho Van Dong was rescued from a boat at sea by a Norwegian vessel and taken to Singapore where he was offered temporary asylum at the Hawkins Road refugee camp. I was able to get permission for Ho to leave camp and spend time with him. I brought him to visit the Straits Times newspaper office as well as my home. He became uncle Ho to my children and he is fondly remembered since his departure for the United States.

Affiliates could count on IFJ to speak out or act on their behalf.

Nevertheless, seniors in the Asian fraternity felt it was time we weaned ourselves off this dependence and take charge of our affairs.

At the East Asia Journalists Forum held in November 2004, (from left) Kang Seok-jae (Korea), Norila Daud (Malaysia), Eddy Suprapto (Indonesia), Lee Sang-ki (Korea), Warren Christopher (Australia), Dr. Hwang Woo-suk (Korea), Park Sung-ho (Korea), Sophal Chhay (Cambodia), and reporter Ivan Lim (Singapore) are taking a commemorative photo. On this day, Asian journalists announced the launch of AJA to the world by uniting in a call for peace.

While attending the IFJ XXV World Congress in Greece in 2004, Eddy Suprapto, from the Journalists Association of Indonesia (AJI) and Lee Sang-ki, from the Journalists Association of Korea (JAK) broached the subject of an autonomous grouping of journalists from the Asian region.

The idea picked up momentum when Sang-ki, an activist at the Hankore Daily (People’s Voice), became president of the 1,000-strong JAK and projected a more assertive public role for the media.

His advent came at a perilous time in the Korean Peninsula. Tension was mounting over North Korea’s testing of nuclear-tipped inter-continental ballistic missiles. This was seen as a provocation by the North in the decades-long imbroglio that involved the United States, Russia and China – parties that had fought in the Korean War (1950-1953).

On-and-off trouble-shooting talks to get the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to end its nuclear weapons program had flopped.

The new JAK president saw the urgency of highlighting the nuclear arms race as a threat to the peace and prosperity of Asia.

Since other Asian nations were in the firing line of the nuclear threat, they needed to play their part in pushing for the peaceful resolution of the Korean conflict.

The platform for rallying journalists to the cause was the Peace Forum hosted by JAK. Sang-ki dispatched his deputy Kang Seok- Jae to Hanoi for the CAJ general assembly at which SNUJ was handing over the presidency to the Vietnamese Journalists Association.

Given the floor, Seok-jae briefed delegates on the Korean nuclear issue and JAK’s move to rally Asian media behind the peace campaign.

Enjoining the delegates to rally to JAK in fulfilling this mission, he invited them to make their presence felt at the East Asia Journalists Peace Forum in Seoul.

Sensing the drum beats of war, CAJ top officials from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam made their impact at the Seoul forum by deploring the sabre-rattling and nuclear posturing and called for peace and reconciliation in the Korean Peninsula, giving a boost to the JAK and Sang-ki’s initiative to project the Asian media’ solidarity.

Seoul-based China and Japan correspondents, plus guests from the US Society of Professional Journalists raised the profile of the international gathering.

Sang-ki charmingly created a homey atmosphere for participants who hit it off with one another.

For newcomers, in particular, the ice-breaking came when they took to the floor and poured out their souls during the lively post-dinner karaoke (live jamming without a band).

At the conference, cases of civil war and violence were cited by delegates. On the nuclear stand-off in East Asia, they agreed the media in Asia can step up together and push for peace and a freeze on nuclear proliferation.

In the face of a common threat to peace and security in East Asia that could escalate and engulf the whole continent, the delegates displayed a palpable sense of solidarity and committed to take on the peace-making mantle as a media fraternity.

The outcome of the East Asia Peace Forum had exceeded the expectations of the hosts and delegates. As envisioned by Sang-ki, the ambitious idea of an Asia-wide regional grouping appeared within reach.

While the Forum itself had not set out this as a target, the idea has all this while been at the back of our minds. The prevailing mood and meeting of minds among delegates seemed optimum and the timing was right. There might not be such a successful gathering for a long time to come.

The climax came at the closing dinner. As dessert and coffee were being served, Seok-jae, acting on cue from Sang-ki, took to the podium.

The seemingly relaxed delegates sat up to catch Seok-jae’s pronouncement that the time has come to establish an independent, pan-Asian organization of journalists. This common platform will enable the diverse Asian media representatives to speak with one voice on regional and world affairs.

“Please give us your full support,” he called out to a now-attentive audience. Presented with the proposal for the first time, delegates engaged in quick exchanges over whether to say “yes” immediately or do so later after getting an official mandate from their respective organizations.

The vote could go either way. Still, we wanted to play by the rules. At this critical moment, I joined Seok-jae on the podium. Together, we decided to cut through the dilemma by having delegates endorse the launch of the Asia regional journalist outfit with the provision that they could come back if there was a change of mind.

An Asian grouping of journalists was an idea whose time has come. With Sang-ki as prime mover, we had seized the moment and, like midwives, delivered ‘baby’ AJA in dramatic fashion.

Abuja, Nigeria

CAJ International Magazine, published by the Congress of African Journalists, launched from the heart of Africa, Nigeria, to take its readers on a tour across the continents of the world, has brought out its latest issue.

It begins with the cover story; Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has announced the Great World Antifascist Festival “FOR A NEW WORLD”, which will take place on January 8-10, 2025, in Caracas.

This announcement was made during the closing session of the World Congress of Antifascist Youth and Students, emphasizing Venezuela’s growing role as a center for global antifascist movements. Maduro highlighted that the event will coincide with the swearing-in of the new president-elect, further symbolizing Venezuela’s commitment to unity and resistance against fascism. The festival will gather international delegates, activists, and cultural representatives to strategize and collaborate on global antifascist initiatives. This follows a series of high-profile cultural and political events in Venezuela under Maduro’s leadership, including the Viva Venezuela World Festival and the World Poetry Festival. These events have celebrated Venezuela’s cultural richness while promoting social and political causes. Through such initiatives, Maduro continues to position Venezuela as both a hub for cultural expression and a platform for international solidarity against extremism.

From Latin America to Asia, to read on Alghoza – a common musical Heritage instrument of Sindh and Egypt! Earlier this year, Mr. Nasir Aijaz received a copy of “A Study on Sindhi Folk Music” by Mr. Rajesh Kumar Parasramani, a Sindhi Sarangi player from Chhattisgarh, India.

Despite strained relations between India and Pakistan, the book eventually reached him through a kind intermediary. Rajesh, a visually impaired musician with roots in Sindh, Pakistan, has a deep passion for folk music and works at the Reserve Bank of India. While reading his book, a particular note on the Alghoza caught his attention. It highlighted that many artists believe this traditional instrument, common to Sindh and Punjab, may have originated in Egypt, underscoring its shared cultural heritage.

From Europe, we will make three stops: Victor Klykov will tell us, in a series of articles, about Alexander Pushkin’s African roots and his memories living in African countries, while Ana Stelia introduces us to the Serbian translation of Ashraf Aboul-Yazid’s book Naguib Mahfouz: The Narrator and the Artist. Finally, CAJ puvlishes an interview conducted by Selnich Vivas Hurtado, University of Antioquia (Colombia) with the exiled Malian poet and writer, Ismaël Diadié Haïdaras, first published in Spanish in Linguistics and Literature Magazine, and Haïdaras says “There is no world other than the one that gives us the language we speak.”

The iconic African historian Professor Toyin Falola talks to us about one of the tenets of a democratic society, which is the assurance of freedom of speech and expression for its citizens: “This includes the right to speak and criticise in order to ensure that society does not derail in upholding its values. The test of democracy is not at the point of comfortable tolerance of these rights but in allowing everyone to, even at the greatest inconvenience, manifest the utmost freedom granted to them by law and nature.

Egyptian TV director and writer Fatima Al Zahraa Hasan reminds us with Salma Hayek’s love letter to her homeland; Lebanon, exhibited in her film “The Prophet” based on the book by Kahlil Gibran. The magazine also showcases the creative pens of LEE YEON-SIL , Cherry (Korea), Nuha Swaid (Syria), Dela Ahiawor (Ghana), Reno Omokri (Nigeria), Hassan Humeida (Sudan/Germany), Dr. Elmaya Cabbarova (Azerbaijan), Mutayoba Arbogast (Tanzania), Oseni Yusuf Salami (Nigeria) and Editor-in-Chief Michael Adeboboye.

Seoul

Celebrating a major milestone in its thriving history, Asia Journalist Association (AJA) has vowed to sustain its longstanding tradition of promoting truthful journalism, fostering unity and peace and embracing the future by building to its core values and goals.

During an online video conference on November 19, marking the 20th anniversary of the founding of the pan-Asian association, members welcomed the new executive committee.

The committee includes the incoming president Mr. Sophal Chhay from Cambodia, the five vice-presidents, East Asia Vice-President Mr. Seok-jae Kang, from Korea, Southeast Asia Vice-President Ms. Norila Daud from Malaysia, South Asia Vice-President Mr. Sathasivam Leo Nirosha Darshan, from Sri Lanka, Central Asia Vice-President Mr. Kuban Taabaldiev from Kyrgyzstan, and West Asia Vice-President Ms. Pooneh Nedaei Kharghani Sabet from Iran, as well as the new member Ms. Nurjan Kasmalyeva from Kyrgyzstan.

The elections were held on November 8- 14 November. Earlier, in September and October, AJA reviewed applications for membership and approved new membership from nine countries.

Lee Sang-ki

AJA Founding President Mr. Lee Sang-ki congratulated the executive committee members on their success and prompted that while their achievement is a cause for personal and collective celebration, it also invites reflection on novel ways to move forward with the association and create and seize opportunities for reinforcing AJA values for true journalism and peace.

He also welcomed the new members and assured them of the support of the association while moving forward.

AJA’s new president Mr. Sophal Chhay congratulate the members of the executive committee on their election.

New AJA President Sophal from Cambodia

“I will work with the executive committee to lead AJA during my term,” he said.

The new executive committee and president will serve a two-year term starting January 2025.

Norila Daoud said she was happy to continue her activities as an AJA founding member.

“I hope AJA will build a strong system to actively encourage the participation of members from Southeast Asia and other Asian countries.”

Kuban Taabaldiev said that AJA should expand beyond Central Asia.

“All members, especially the executive committee, should properly handle various agendas to enhance the organization’s strength,” he told the meeting.

The importance of nurturing next generation was also emphasized following the new membership.

Ivan Lim, from Singapore, the second president of AJA (2009-2016), said that AJA has a new executive committee.

“I will now step back and support the next generation of journalists to fulfill their roles,” he said.

Eddy Suprapto, another AJA founding member, from Indonesia, also stressed the significance of reinforcing unity and building on past achievements to move forward.

“Just as my predecessors and I have done, we must remind young journalists of the importance of Asian journalism unity,” he said.

“I hope that AJA will achieve greater success in the next and the next generations based on the legacy it has built.”

Pooneh Nedai from Iran and Ghena Halik from Lebanon, emphasized that AJA raise its voice for countries affected by war.

“More than 100 journalists have lost their lives in the Gaza War in Palestine alone,” she said.

“I hope AJA can become a source of strength for the Palestinian, Lebanese, and Ukrainian peoples.”

Gunjeet Kaur Sra, from India, said there are people among AJA members who are directly or indirectly affected by war.

“AJA must do its best to ensure that the voices of those suffering from war can be heard,” she said.

AJA is currently preparing a special content that looks back on its history.

“We are planning a content that highlights on the association’s 20 years and the major history of each member country from 2004 to 2024,” Lee Sang-ki said.

“I hope AJA will provide an opportunity to strengthen organizational power and unity through collaboration between members in each region and country.”

Abuja

In his editorial, Nigerian journalist Michael Adeboboye, Editor-in-Chief, Congress of African Journalists CAJ International Magazine (November 2024) wrote “As the year 2024 is running to a close, we sincerely appreciate our partners, collaborators, members of the International Media Cooperation Protocol (IMCP), for standing with us in this bid of creating a pedestal of connection for journalists and media platforms around the globe. We shall keep intact the seal of global contents exchange on which our understanding is building a stronger foundation. And importantly, our teeming readers and friends all over the world. We shall keep the bond stronger as we are moving into a new great and fulfilling year 2025…. Our work is not one without challenges, but with unrelenting faith and undaunted spirit, we are getting there with vitality. The world is at the moment shifting serious focus on its population and consequences on its economy.”

Ashraf unveils in the story, many comparisons, backgrounds and insights bearing his beam in particular, on the North African Egypt, taking our readers on a voyage of pretty piece: the Egyptian case in respect to Family Planning and Birth Control. This is our cover story for this edition.

“Since 1980 until now, family planning programs have spent about three billion Egyptian pounds, and more than 6,000 family planning units have been established in Egypt’s governorates. But the result was the opposite, with a population of 104 million in 2017. In the eighties, women began using contraceptives and methods such as the IUD and birth control pills became widespread and fertility rates among women in Egypt began to decline. Between 1980 and 1995, there were huge media campaigns, under the auspices of the wife of the former President, Suzanne Mubarak, to promote family planning programs, and women obtained their information about family planning by 40% from television and by 27% from doctors. According to a study entitled “Health in Egypt” published in 2002. Birth control plans continued, but it didn’t succeed, until present. We wonder, what is the reason for the high birth rates in Egypt?…..Contrary to what was expected, many migrants flocked to Egypt, benefitting from the societal security and safe borders, in order to leave the conflict areas in Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Sudan, Yemen, and Eritrea, which constituted an increase of about 15 million people according to official statistics…”reports, Ashraf.

Robert Nestrooy Kayongo highlights the recent USA elections: “Donald Trump secured another term as the President of the United States and many African presidents congratulated him for achieving his goal of taking back the US’s top office but many Africans are justified in questioning his dedication to the well-being of their continent. His initial tenure was marred by unfulfilled promises, deceptive assertions, and policies that detrimentally impacted African interests.”

Empowering Ghana’s Street Kids through Sports is the topic showcased by Dela Ahiawor: Street children’s right to sports has long been recognized as a human right. Sport absolutely has the potential to provide real grounds for optimism and growth opportunities for vulnerable groups in society, including street kids. As well, sport is key in shaping the attitude of kids positively. Clued in on this, Polish-Ghanaian philanthropist, Omenaa Mensah is on a mission to uplift and empower underprivileged children in Accra, Ghana’s capital city by leveraging the power of sports. With unwavering support from ambassadors, including NBA veteran, Pops Mensah-Bonsu- the Omenaa Foundation recently cut sod on the Kids Haven Sport & Art Complex in Accra- aiming to provide sports, arts, and holistic care for Ghana’s street urchins.”

Ensuring Food Security from Farm to Table is a call for Sustainable Practices to Prevent Biodiversity discussed by Mutayoba Arbogast: “In a world where food safety and security are critical to human survival, Tanzania is grappling with significant challenges that threaten its strides toward sustainable development. Each year, over 600,000 people suffer from foodborne illnesses due to unsafe food consumption, with a tragic 420,000 lives lost as a result.”

Daily life scene, the Soviet Lifestyle Museum

We are still in Africa, as Donald Tlaka takes us far south to observe “100 Days of GNU and What it Means To Common SA Citizens”. He wrote: “For the first time in 30 years, the African National Congress (ANC) lost elections on May 29, 2024. After 30 years of democracy, South Africans under ANC are still without jobs, high levels of inequality, corruption and crime are still the realities to many. The May 29 was definitely going to be a defining moment for South African democracy. Ten Political Parties came together to form the government of national unity led by the ANC, Democratic Alliance and other parties. Although the 10 parties may give you a different reason for the formation of the government of national unity, the truth is the GNU is a forced marriage that will either blossom into a beautiful union which will be the envy of the fractured “.

Spreading CAJ Magazine’s wings abroad, the First World Forum of Children’s Literature was documented by Russian creative pen Andrey Igorevich Yavny

“Children are our future”… But who would be inspired by such a phrase? As it turns out, quite a few, especially when we step away from clichés and return to the phrase’s original essence. This truth, dulled by countless repetitions, has the potential to ignite thought and inspire hundreds of people. And not just inspire thought, but spur action—to transform an overused phrase into the motto of a new and essential discourse. From October 25 to November 3, the first World Forum of Children’s Literature, entitled “Children Are Our Future: The Role of Children’s Literature in Shaping Character and Preserving Spiritual and Moral Values,” was held in Antalya, Turkey. Now, let us turn to the Chairman of the Russian branch of the World Organization of Writers (WOW).”

One of the new voices in cinema criticism is the Syrian writer Nuha Swaid. She is a graduate of Arabic Literature from Damascus University. She has written dozens of articles and published interviews in cultural, social and legal journalism since 2011. She studied at the NAZAR School of Education, Department of Film Criticism in Cairo. She is a film critic who writes in Arabic on several websites, including Ain Ala Al Cinema (An Eue on Cinema). She is interested in public affairs, especially women’s rights, and loves cinema that champions the issues of peoples. She writes her new articles in French. In this interview with CAJ Nuha Swaid said: “In a world facing crises, cinema serves as a beacon of inspiration and change, honestly reflecting the struggles of humanity. It voices the pain of marginalized groups, illuminating their stories and helping to build collective awareness. Rather than merely being a means of escape, cinema opens the door to discussions about the real issues that affect societies. It enhances understanding between cultures and reinforces the values of solidarity and hope amidst despair. I believe that cinema is not only a mirror of society but also a driving force for change. “

On another side, the Soviet Union remains a special milestone in the history of mankind. This is the reason to see many museums – not only in Russia – are celebration this iconic piece of history. MOSCOW INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL in Antalya opened a special Museum of Social Life in the Soviet Union, while “The artist paints with colors, and we paint with objects”. A school museum is not only a place where exhibits are kept and stories are told, but also a whole space for learning and development. A school museum is a platform for the formation of a comprehensive education, where school children learn new information and can apply it in practice.
