Shehla Raza orders installation of more CCTV cameras in and around the Darul Aman and bans entry of media persons without permission

Sindh Minister for Women Development, Syeda Shehla Raza on Sunday directed the concerned officials of her department to conduct regular medical checkup and blood test of the women housed at Darul Aman in the province.

The minister issued such directives during a detailed visit to Darul Aman in Sukkur where she met with the women.

“Medical examination of the women lodged in Dar-ul- Aman should be done on daily basis and blood tests should be carried out every fortnight or monthly and the complete report should be sent to the head office,” she directed.

Syeda Shehla Raza said that there was an urgent need for the judiciary to take care of the SOPs, as according to the SOPs, Dar-ul- Aman or Safe Houses can provide shelter to women for a short period of time, and not for years.

Shehla Raza-Darul-Aman-Sindh-Courier-1“Keeping women in Dar-ul- Aman or safe houses for longer time was a violation of SOPs, while children above the age of twelve cannot be kept with their mothers in Dar-ul- Aman,” she said.

Minister said that there were lot of problems faced by her department, besides facing a severe shortage of staff in Dar-ul- Amaans, due to which sometimes unpleasant incidents also happen.

Shehla Raza said that she has taken up the issue with Chief Minister to overcome the shortage of staff.

The provincial minister inspected the CCTV cameras installed in Darul Aman and directed to increase and activate more CCTV cameras and security in Dar-ul- Aman.

She gave instructions to DIG Police Sukkur Javed Jiskani and SSP Sukkur that mobile Jammers should also be installed in the vicinity of Dar-ul- Aman in view of security.

DIG Sukkur assured the provincial minister that he would provide all possible facilities to Darul Aman.

The minister said that it’s a responsibility of her department to ensure all possible facilities, so anyone who neglects his duties will face severe punishment.

Shehla Raza-Darul-Aman-Sindh-CourierShe instructed the concerned Deputy Director to hand over the underage girls in Darul Aman to the Child Protection Authority and ban all types of media from entering Dar-ul- Aman without the permission of the concerned Deputy Director.

Secretary Sindh Women Development Department Anjum Iqbal Jumani, Additional Secretary Muhammad Ali Sheikh, DIG Sukkur Javed Jiskani, SSP Sanghaar Malik, Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Dr. Shahzad and other relevant officers were also with her.

Meanwhile, Syeda Shehla Raza visited the skill development projects going on with the support of various NGOs and inspected the handicrafts produced by women there and appreciated their work.

She also directed to introduce the handicrafts in the market in an organized and efficient manner. She said that economically stable women will guarantee a strong society.
