International Sindhi Language Conference to discuss endangered indigenous languages

2-Day conference being organized by Sindhi Language Authority, will be held on Feb 20-21 at Arts Council Karachi

Sindhi Language Authority (SLA) is organizing 2-day International Conference on Sindhi Language on February 20-21, 2023 on the occasion of World Mother Tongue Day and in connection with ‘A Decade of Indigenous Languages – 2022-2032’, as declared by the United Nations.

The conference, titled ‘Sindhi Language, Sindhu Script and the Endangered Indigenous Languages’, will be held at Arts Council of Pakistan in Karachi.

Sindh Minister for Education, Culture, Tourism & Antiquities, Sardar Ali Shah will inaugurate the conference at 11a.m on February 20. SLA Chairman Dr. Ishaque Samejo, Dr. Tariq Rehman, Dr. Fahmida Hussain, Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Kalhoro, and others will address the session.

A poetry recitation session will be held in the evening, participated by Sindhi and Urdu poets. Various scholars and linguists will present their papers on the next day (February 21) while the concluding session, to be addressed by Sassui Palejo, Zubeda Mustafa, Dr. Fateh Marri and others at 6p.m. Prof. Maya David, an international linguist, will be the keynote speaker.

The music concert will be the last segment of event where renowned folk singers Manjhi Fakir and Saif Samejo will perform. (PR)
