Sindh Courier Report

The PTI government has denied permission to observe Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s death anniversary at Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh, through a letter sent by Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi to Pakistan People’s Party Rawalpindi President Babar Sultan Jadoon.

The Deputy Commissioner in his letter dated December 23, 2019, referring to PPP’s written application seeking permission for public meeting, stated ‘it is intimated that based upon the reports of the district police and special branch Rawalpindi, permission for holding jalsa on December 27 at Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi by Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari cannot be granted.’

Meanwhile, a PPP leader and Bilawal Bhutto’s spokesman Mustafa Nawaz Khokar said that the government is resorting to cheap tactics, and repressing any voice against it.

Khokar said that the rally will be held at Liaquat Bagh at any cost, adding that they will utilize every legal option to hold the public meeting.

Bilawal Bhutto earlier said the party will observe the death anniversary of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto at Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi on Dec 27.

The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on Friday December 27 on account of the death anniversary of former premier Benazir Bhutto.
