Punjab University Lahore won the championship with 3 gold medals, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals; Lahore Garrison University stood second securing 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals and Lahore College for Women University got 1 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals

Punjab University Lahore became the winner of the All Pakistan Intervarsity Girls Judo Championship 2023, while the second and third positions were also achieved by two universities of Lahore.

Vice Chancellor, Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam, distributed the trophies, medals and cash prizes among the successful teams on Tuesday.

SAU-Girls-Judo-Sindh-Courier-1The first All Pakistan Inter-Universities Girls Judo Championship organized by Sindh Agriculture University and supported by Higher Education Commission concluded, and after a tough competition, Punjab University Lahore won 3 gold medals, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals, and got the first position, and became the winner of the championship 2023, while Lahore Garrison University stood second after getting 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals and Lahore College for Women University got 1 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals and achieved third position.

SAU-Girls-Judo-Sindh-Courier-3Vice Chancellor Dr. Fateh Marri distributed trophies and medals to the captains of the three universities.

While giving details, Director Sports Anwar Hussain Khanzada said that Mishal Wyne of Punjab University won the 40 kg weight category, Sahar 52 kg category and Anum won the gold medal in the 70 kg, Kainat of Lahore Garrison University in the 44 kg category, Mehr Gul in the 48 kg and Shaista in 63 kg, while Monisha Ali won gold medals in the open category, while Sumbal Fatima of Lahore College for Women University won the gold medal in the 57 kg category.

“In this championship, around 120 female students from 16 universities of the country participated in various weight categories,” he added.

SAU-Girls-Judo-Sindh-Courier-4SAU-Girls-Judo-Sindh-Courier-5Addressing the closing ceremony, Vice Chancellor Dr. Fateh Marri said that this championship has created opportunities and provided an environment for communication and competition among the students from different parts of Pakistan, and they were provided the opportunity to see and understand the educational institutions and culture of Sindh.

He said that Sindh Agriculture University will start more sports competitions for girls in the future, while the female students of different universities in Sindh will be able to go to other provinces.

Director University Advancement and Financial Assistance Dr. Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar, Shaukat Hussain Sangi, Muhammad Umar Dasti, heads of various departments, a large number of sports officers, teachers, and students from various universities of Pakistan also attended the event. (PR)
