The officials of district administrations, having authority to issue domiciles and PRCs, are the main ‘culprits’ who have been issuing fake domiciles against payment of some money. Laws should be amended to curb issuance of bogus domiciles and PRCs.
Although the issuance of bogus domiciles in Sindh to the people of other provinces is a decades old issue but it came to limelight afresh when the social media started highlighting it with reference to certain cases detected in Larkana. This, in fact, is one of the serious issues of Sindh, as the meritorious candidates of Sindh are being deprived of the employment in public sector.
The officials of district administrations, having authority to issue domiciles and Permanent Residence Certificates (PRCs), are the main ‘culprits’ who have been issuing fake domiciles against payment of some money.
According to media reports 41 confirmed and 1,262 suspected cases of bogus domicile were identified at initial stage of inquiry in Larkana district. It is said that 147 among 1,262 reported domiciles were suspicious while the district administration issued 30,199 domiciles in the last two years.
In the light of such disclosures, one can understand the reason of unemployment in Sindh. The people of Sindh are facing unemployment problems because of bogus domiciles, as it is quite easy for the outsiders to get fake domicile here and snatch the rights of people of this province.
This is not the problem of an individual but whole of Sindh. The committee, formed by government of Sindh to investigate issuance bogus domiciles and the competent authority (Chief Minister) must strictly take legal action against non-residents whom domiciles have been issued. This issue should be resolved once for all by amending the laws, so that no non-resident is issued bogus domicile and PRC.
Save the future of Sindh’s students by rejecting bogus domiciles.
