Around 700 animals were treated at Veterinary Camps established by Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam.

The Veterinary Camps for the treatment of rain-affected animals, established by Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) continued extending service for 18 days during which hundreds of animals were treated at the faculty and mobile camps.

“Around 700 animals were treated under the supervision of the concerned department. It was found that fodder and food deficiency is the biggest problem, while goats are the most affected animals due to rain. The animals have legs and feet sores, skin, stomach worms and insect diseases,” university experts informed the Vice Chancellor, Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam on Saturday.

SAU-Veterinary-Camp-Sindh Courier-1Under the instructions of Dr. Fateh Marri, Vice Chancellor, a free veterinary camp for the treatment of rain-affected animals, under the supervision of a team of veterinary experts from the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences, with the support of the Department of Animal Husbandry, continued treating the animals while the mobile team under the supervision of the Department of Medicine has also evaluated hundreds of animals, provided medicines, and animals are being vaccinated in different areas of Taluka Hyderabad Rural.

In this regard, Department of Animal Husbandry Department, Government of Sindh is supporting in the matter of medicines. The experts – Dr. Ahmed Nawaz Tunio, Dr. Amjad Mirani, Dr. Azizullah Memon, Dr. Riaz Leghari and MPhil students are rendering their services.

SAU-Veterinary-Camp-Sindh Courier-2Dr. Fateh Marri, Vice Chancellor SAU Tandojam has said that our experts have told in their survey and research that at this time cattle have the biggest problem of non-availability of food and fodder.

“The problem of stomach worms and diseases is caused in animals due to drinking rainy wastewater, while wounds, skin, stomach, and insect diseases were found in the animals, while goats are most affected animal in cattle, and many species of birds are also affected,” he said  adding that the Agricultural University is working within its resources in this regard.
