Minister for Universities issues directives to his department officials and universities to start working on introducing the subject on climate change

Sindh government has decided to introduce a new subject on Climate Change in all the public as well as private universities in the province for creating awareness among the students about the effects of changing climate.

The provincial minister for Universities and Environment, Ismail Rahu while issuing directives to the secretary of his department, has urged that the universities should start working on developing a subject on Climate Change.

Rahu said that the global warming is increasing with every passing day due to climate changethat has resulted in droughts in certain areas and unprecedented rains in other areas.

“In order to create awareness among young generation about the climate change effects, it is direly needed to introduce a subject on it,” he said and added that by studying this subject, the students can also get jobs in related field.

Ismail Rahu stated further that the introduction of specific subject on climate change, will also help resolving the issues of pollution, municipal waste and hospital waste management. “Currently, Sindh is suffering a lot due to climate change effects.”

“The changing climate is directly affecting our agriculture also that may create food insecurity,” he concluded. (PR)
