Sindh Courier Report
Karachi: Two players of Sindh – one from Larkana and the other from Karachi, have qualified at the training camp for Azlan Shah Hockey Cup to be played at Malaysia. Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has included their names in the list of country’s hockey team.
The selected players are Ubaidullah Bhutto of Larkana and Agha Oan Ali of Karachi.
The department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Sindh had several times complained to the PHF for neglecting the players of Sindh, after which the FHF authorities assured department’s secretary Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah that they will not neglect the talent of Sindh in future.
Imtiaz Ali Shah had strong viewpoint that several acclaimed players of hockey belonged to Sindh in the past but there had been constant complaints that no players from Sindh were inducted in the Pakistan squads taking part national and international events. “We took up this issue with PHF authorities and they selected two of the players from Sindh, which is a welcome move,” he said.
Thanking the PHF authorities, Imtiaz Shah hoped that more opportunities would be offered to Sindh players in future. “Sindh players must not feel disheartened, as the Sports Department will continue raising voice for them at all the forums,” he said.
