The fishing community of Sindh has warned of observing the strike and shutting down the fishery in Karachi for an indefinite period from January, if the attacks on the boats of Sindh’s fishermen inside the Balochistan didn’t stop.

“The federal as well as provincial government should take serious note of incidents of firing on Sindh’s fishermen in Balochistan’s limits,” said Nosherwan, Muhammad Ibrahim, Bachu Dewan and other fishermen leaders speaking in a press conference at Karachi Press Club on Sunday.

They told newsmen that as soon as the boats of Sindh’s fishermen enter into Balochistan waters, targeted fires are opened on them. “They are also arrested, and this all is being done by Maulana Hidayat who is threatening Sindh’s fishermen of killing them.”

“Maulana Hidayat is instigating Baloch people against the fishermen of Sindh,,” they alleged.

The fishermen’s leaders warned that if such incidents continued, they will not allow marketing of Balochistan’s fish in Karachi.

They said that in one of such firing incidents in Jeewani, a fisherman of Sindh lost his life. Condemning such incidents, the fishermen urged the government to take action against the Maulana Hidayat and his armed men.

“This is unfair that fishermen of Sindh are being targeted in Balochistan.”

Earlier, the fishing community including their women, staged the protest demonstration outside Karachi Press Club.
