Student’s body found from Chandka Girls’ Hostel

A medical student in the city’s Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) was found dead in her hostel room on Monday under suspicious circumstances.

The body of Nimrita Kumari, a student of the SMBBMU’s Bibi Aseefa Dental College, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her hostel room, the university administration confirmed.

Kumari was enrolled in the university’s Bachelor of Dental Surgery program and was a final-year student.

The university’s vice chancellor, Aneela Atta-ur-Rahman, said in this regard they had formed a committee to probe Kumari’s alleged suicide. It would be headed by the principal of Larkana’s Chandka Medical College, she added.

The late student’s parents, who live in Karachi, had been informed, the VC added.

Police, on the other hand, said they had sealed Kumari’s room and were conducting an investigation in this regard.

According to reports, the parents of Nimrita Kumari hailed from restive town Ghotki but used to live in Karachi. Her father was rice merchant.

The brother of deceased student has been quoted as saying on social media that marks of torture were seen on body of Nimrita Kumari.
