Angela Kosta, a well-known figure in the global literary landscape, has been declared winner in several prestigious international literary competitions held in Italy. In addition, she received the honorary appointment as Head of the Press Office of the Tiberina Academy and the Women’s Chair Association, registered with the United Nations.

On September 14, 2025, in Bonate Sotto (Bergamo), the “International Artistic Literary Movement Group” Association, chaired by Dr. Anna Maria Lombardi, organized the event: Magia Delle Parole- Quello che non dissi mai – The Magic of Words – “What I Never Said”, 4th Edition. Angela Kosta was awarded the Extra Competition Tribute Award for her commitment as a Translator and Cultural Promoter on an international level. She also received a medal and an Honorable Mention for the poem “Sculpted Symphony”, in memory of the tragedy of the Albanians who disappeared in the Otranto Channel on March 28, 1997.

The event was held under the patronage of the Lombardy Region, Province of Bergamo, Municipality of Bonate Sotto, etc.

Nearly three intense hours were spent in the company of the authors’ wonderful verses, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

In addition to the President, Cav. Dr. Anna Maria Lombardi, the Vice President Dr. Maria Pellino, Mayor Carlo Previtali, and Culture Councillor Mattia Liga were also present. Many participants were awarded, some multiple times, with over 150 attendees from all over Italy, as well as from Kosovo, Albania, France, Germany, Yugoslavia, Romania, and more. During the event, Dr. Chiara Medolago and Carlo Zanutto also gave speeches.

On September 15, 2025, at the prestigious Villa of Guido Gozzano in Agliè (Turin), during the 15th Edition of the contest “Il Meleto di Guido Gozzano”, chaired by Lidia Chiarelli, in the category: Foreign Language Authors, Angela Kosta was proclaimed winner of the Grand Jury Prize with her unpublished poem: “The Torment of the Earth.”

The Board of Directors of the Tiberina Academy, in the name of its President Cav. Dr. Franco Antonio Pinardi and the Director of the “Cattedra Delle Donne – Women’s Chair”, Dr. Antonietta Micali, with the President Dr. Renato Ongania, unanimously resolved to confer upon Angela Kosta the honorary title of Head of the Press Office of the Tiberina Academy and the Women’s Chair (registered with the United Nations).

This honorary role represents an official recognition of Kosta’s valuable contribution and her prominent role within the institutional and communication context.

Earlier this year on March 1, in the Municipality of Taggia, Province of Imperia, the 31st edition of the National Award for Unpublished Poetry “Ossi di Seppia” took place. The President of the Award, Municipal Culture Councillor Dr. Chiara Cerri, and the Secretary of the Award, Lamberto Garzia, declared Angela Kosta the winner of the Grand Jury Prize – Section A with the poem: “Resilience”.

The Woman of the Year Awards, by Woman This Month magazine, honor the achievements and contributions of women in Bahrain

A new tribute will made to outstanding women in Bahrain as people in the Gulf country, both nationals and foreigners, will be able to vote for the 2024 Woman of the Year Awards.

The Woman of the Year Awards, by Woman This Month magazine, honor the achievements and contributions of women in Bahrain in five main categories with four sub-categories under each.

The honorees will be prominent achievers, from industry leaders to rising stars in business, art, science, healthcare, social good and many more.

The five categories are Engineering and Technical, Business and Financial, Artistic and Creative, Health, Hospitality, Education & Social, and Lifestyle and Media.

During a special ceremony, organizers unveiled the 59 finalists who have made it to the short list prepared by five judges (four women and one man) for the top prizes in 18 award segments across the five categories.

The finalists are a mixture of local Bahrainis and foreigners living in Bahrain who fulfilled criteria that included a degree of innovation and broader impact on industry, technology, society, or culture, technical skills and expertise, a mastery of skills and expertise in their respective field, leadership, collaboration, and mentoring efforts, as well as professional recognition, awards, and contributions to industry or society.

The public will vote throughout October and the awards will be presented on December 2 when Bahrain celebrates its annual Bahraini Women’s Day.

In 2008, Bahrain’s First Lady and Supreme Council for Women Chairwoman Princess Sabeeka bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa said that December 1 would be celebrated annually as Bahraini Women’s Day.

The day commemorates the achievements and creative contribution made by women to development and progress and highlights the important role of women in public life.

The laureates in Engineering and Technical will be Women in architecture, construction & real estate, women in aviation (pilots, administrators, engineers …), women in industry (manufacturing, production, oil & gas, alternative energy), and women in science, technology, engineering & mathematics.

Afreximbank has officially announced the launch of the CANEX Prize for Publishing in Africa, a partnership between the CANEX Book Factory and the Narrative Landscape Press Limited.

The CANEX Book Factory, a key intervention under the CANEX program, aims to promote a vibrant literary culture across Global Africa and encourage the development of a sustainable business ecosystem in the literary sector. CANEX was launched in 2020 by Afreximbank as a key driver for development and job creation in Africa, having recognized the relevance and opportunities provided by the creative and cultural industries.

The CANEX Book Factory will spotlight and elevate the African book value chain through a Pan-African writing workshop, an e-newsletter highlighting African literature and the prize for publishing in Africa. This will culminate in the Award Ceremony at the CANEX WKND to be held in Algiers, Algeria on the 16-19 October 2024.

A USD20000 prize will be awarded to the publisher of the best trade book. Trade books refers to books published for a general audience, including fiction, non-fiction, and poetry and excludes textbooks and academic books. Additionally, four finalists will each receive USD2000 in prize money.

The management of Hari Shewa Ishwaribai Buxani English Academy organized on Monday January 8, 2024 the 20th annual function and prize distribution ceremony for the year 2022-23 at Dindayal Auditorium, Vadodara (Baroda) city of Gujarat, India.

Prof Dr. Ashok Hingorani was the chief guest of the program. Mr. Pinakin Surti (Principal), Mrs. Hema Chandwani (Head Mistress), Mr. Kumar Jetley (Head of Trustees), Mr. Naresh Dhankani (Trustee), retired Principals and teachers of the school, a large number of students and their parents attended the ceremony.

Title of the program was “The Taste of India.” Students performed on many Hindi songs. Little kids of junior K.G and senior K.G classes also gave dance performance.

Mr. Ashok Hingorani, Mr. Kumar Jetley and Mr. Pinakin Surti delivered speeches and briefed the audience about the activities and performance of school.

The meritorious students of the school were awarded with prizes.

Interview with Russian poet Margarita Al, WOW President, by Ashraf Aboul-Yazid

The World Organization of Writers “WOW” has called to unite the creative efforts of writers from all over the world in the struggle for a humanitarian future, in which culture, literature and spiritual values will play a key role in ensuring peace and stability on the planet. The organization is open to all who share these ideals and strive to contribute to the better future of humanity through words and creativity.

Recently, WOW announced that its first award will be given next spring in Abuja, Nigeria. I am interviewing Russian poet Margarita Al, WOW President to highlight this event and explain all of its detailed procedures.

I would like you to showcase the beginning of WOW, and its sharing path with the Literary Eurasian Festival of Festivals (LIFFT)

For the first time, the idea of creating the World Organization of Writers “WOW” was voiced at the literary forum “Creating the Image of the Future Man and the Future Man in Literature” as part of the Eurasian Literary Festival LIFFT-2019 in the Republic of Azerbaijan, where writers from 52 countries of the world gathered.

For the three following years of work of the Literary Council of the Assembly of the Peoples of Eurasia and the holding of international literary forums and festivals, the number of participants increased significantly, and so was the need to create an organization to unite writers not only from Eurasia, but also from all continents of the world was ripe.

Only a moral and responsible person can save the world, which is overflowing with contradictions, poverty and hunger, inequality, epidemics, extremism and terrorism

I read the message of ambassador of GOOD WILL UNESCO, poet Alexandra Ochirova, who said that “Today, only a moral and responsible person can save the world, which is overflowing with contradictions, poverty and hunger, inequality, epidemics, and what is especially terrible, the misanthropic ideas of fascism, nationalism, extremism and terrorism, which must be forever removed from the spiritual and ideological arsenal of humanity. That is why the problems of humanitarian security and humanitarian modernization must be integrated into all protocols of interaction between countries and peoples.”

Yes, the initiative group of writers from 18 countries of the world, within the framework of the 6th Eurasian Literary Festival LIffT-2023 in the Arab Republic of Egypt, issued a statement/memorandum on the intention to create the World Organization of Writers “WOW”, whose goals and objectives are aimed at humanitarian modernization and the development of spiritual and moral values. .

“WOW World Literary Award” has been established by the “World Organization of Writers” (WOW). Is it different from the literary Award “Golden LIffT”?

“WOW World Literary Award” is the successor of the literary Award “Golden LIffT” – 2016-2023. The new Co-founders of the WOW World Literary Award are the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, the Pan-African Association of Writers PAWA, and the LIFFT Foundation for the Promotion of Cultural Projects of the Eurasian Peoples.  The founder of the Award organizes the awarding of the Award and bears all expenses associated with the payment of the monetary part of the Award, the production of award sets, their ceremonial presentation and the organization of the work of the Award bodies.

What is the main goal this new WOW Award aiming to?

“WOW World Literary Award” was established with the aim of finding and encouraging authors of literary works who can make a significant contribution to world literature, on the basis of spiritual and moral values common to all peoples, as the main strategic resource for sustainable and safe human existence and development.

The announcement specifies the procedure and conditions for nominating works for the Award, the criteria and procedure for evaluating works, the size and form of the award, the procedure and timing for announcing laureates and recipients of the Award.

What are languages permitted and works accepted?

WOW Award accepts works written in Russian, English, Spanish and Arabic and their translations are nominated for the Award. Works are nominated in two categories for the Award: poetry and prose. The Award does not establish restrictions for authors of works based on age, citizenship, place of residence and place of publication of works. The Award is awarded for works written during the writer’s life. The Award may also be awarded for an unpublished work.

Who could apply, and how?

The number of Awards, the amount of their monetary part, the size of the bonus fund and the address for accepting works and nomination documents are established by the founder of the Award annually and are announced. We started accepting works. First day we had 12 applications that followed the regulations on the Award published in the media and on the official website of the Award.

While the government of Sindh has decided to outsource to a third party certain services related to conducting the examinations due to massive irregularities in the education boards of the province, the department of Universities and Education Boards distributed awards and prizes among the officers and employees of the universities and boards for their ‘outstanding performance’ on Monday.

Provincial Minister for Universities and Bards Ismail Rahu also attended the award and prize distribution ceremony held in the office of department’s secretary Muhammad Mureed Rahmoon. The Vice Chancellors of all the public sector universities also attended the ceremony.

According to an official announcement, 59 employees and teachers of 26 varsities and 11 employees of education boards received the awards and prizes. A total of Rs.5.5 million were distributed among the employees.

Official handout further stated that a separate allocation of funds has been made for awards and prizes for the Vice Chancellors and Professors of the varsities.

Teachers and employees of Sindh Workers Welfare Board Schools stage demo against outsourcing

Meanwhile, the teachers and employees of schools being run under Sindh Workers Welfare Boards have started agitating against the outsourcing of its education section. The employees and teachers staged protest demonstration on Monday April 3, 2023 outside the Workers Welfare Board at Nursery area of Karachi.

The protesting employees and teachers chanted slogans holding the placards.

They advised the teachers and employees of Workers Welfare Board Schools across the province to stage protest demonstrations. (PR)

Sindh Educational Forum Khairpur, a non-government organization, distributed best Female Teachers Award among 25 teachers including headmistresses here at a ceremony.

After scrutinizing the list provided to the Forum by the schools, the names of 15 teachers for Best Teachers Awards and 15 and 10 names for Best Female Headmistress Awards were finalized.

Makhdoom Nadeem Hashmi, Madam Firdous Phulpoto, TEO Female Education Khairpur, Zaheer Ahmed Larik, President Sindh Educational Forum Khairpur, Advocate Tarriq Mahesar and others addressing  ceremony said that female teachers were imparting education to the girls not only in the urban schools but also in the far filling rural areas of the district Khairpur, which was really hard for them.

They said that instead of encouraging such female teachers, they are being discouraged by the society which was injustice with teachers.

“In view of such attitude of the society, Sindh Education Forum pledged to honor and encourage the female teachers with shields and awards,” they said and added that such recognition would also help raise the students’ enrollment in the government schools.

They drew attention of the Chief Minister Sindh, Education Minister and Secretary Education to resolve the issues of the teachers as well as the missing facilities in especially the female schools including pure drinking water, latrine facilities, compound walls, furniture and other facilities.

On that occasion, the teachers receiving Best Teacher Awards said that it’s a good step of a Sindh Educational Forum to appreciate and encourage the teachers.

The women who received the awards for Women Empowerment were Ms. Khimya, a Lady Health Worker Supervisor, Ms. Manjoo Bai Kolhi, Ms. Shakutla, Ex-Councilors, Ms. Hina Kolhi, and Ms. Veenti Bheel, RO Plant Operators of Thar Foundation, Ms. Amboo Bai and Ms. Jeema, Dump Truck Drivers of SECMC, Ms. Vijay Laxmi, Ms. Bhagwanti and Ms. Jay Paradha, Teachers of Govt. Girls High School, Islamkot, Ms. Ayesha, Ms. Cheena and Ms. Sandhya, teachers at Thar Foundation Schools.

Before the award ceremony, schoolgirls presented tableaus and speeches on women empowerment and the contribution of women in society.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner of Tharparkar Muhammad Nawaz Soho said, “Economic development and prosperity of the most underdeveloped district Tharparkar cannot be achieved until the women of the region are provided with equal livelihood and income generation opportunities.”

“Gross Domestic Products (GDP) and overall economic growth without active women participation have no value,” he added.

DC Thar said that great poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai has also greatly highlighted the role of women in his poetry compiled as Shah Jo Risalo. “The society of Sindh must thank him for signifying women’s role in the rural setup of Sindh as he (Bhittai) considers them Heroes of Sindh.”

SECMC and TF Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Syed Abul Fazal Rizvi said it was a daunting task to onboard Thari unskilled women of a rural setting to become trained industrialized dump truck drivers and RO plant operators. But, he added, the determination and will to bring them on board paid off.

He said that the industry in Thar is booming keeping in view the potential of exploitation of natural resources like Coal, granite, and the China Clay. “The operators and investors must come forward and dare to invest in the rural women of Thar and they will have handsome returns”, he said.

Ghulam Nabi Sahar, District Education Officer, Syeda Sabeen Shah, Manager Education Thar Foundation, Kuldeep Parwani, President Traders Association, Dr. Shankar Wankwani, Civil Society Representative, Abdul Ghani Bajeer, President Press Club Islamkot, and others also spoke on the occasion. Kamlesh Pagarani and Rashna Zameer moderated the session.
