On November 20, 2024, the “Brush and Cause 2” art exhibition was inaugurated at the Royal Cultural Center in Amman, Jordan. The event was attended by the Assistant Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture, Arouba Al-Shamailah, representing the Minister of Culture, Mustafa Al-Rawashdeh. The exhibition, organized by the Ma’arif Maqdisiya Association (Maja) under the supervision of Jordanian artist Omar Al-Baddour, commemorates the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, observed annually on November 29.

This year’s exhibition features works from 91 artists and includes contributions from numerous countries, including Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and several European and Asian nations. The collection reflects the creative responses to the suffering of the Palestinian people and highlights their ongoing struggle against war crimes, crimes against humanity, and their fight for freedom.

Al-Baddour emphasized the exhibition’s message of unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. He noted that the art presented spans a wide range of themes related to Palestine, including Jerusalem, the land, prisoners, resistance, and the ongoing genocide. He also pointed out the significant international participation, with artists from the United States, Europe, China, Taiwan, Russia, and other nations, underscoring the global commitment to the Palestinian struggle.

Despite the ongoing siege on Gaza, the exhibition successfully displayed 20 pieces of art from Palestinian artists in Gaza, including a poignant work by the late artist, Martyr Fathi Ghanem. These artworks convey the emotional connection of artists to Palestine, portraying the atrocities faced by the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation for over seven decades.

The event aims to send a clear message: that political differences do not hinder solidarity with Palestine, and the global community continues to stand in support of the Palestinian people and their just cause.

This exhibition is an important reminder of the power of art to communicate, heal, and unite people across borders in the fight for justice.
