Dr. Yoo pan duck, a poet from Korea, the Land of Morning Calm, shares his poem

Dr. Yoo pan duck is a poet and columnist. Born in Hapcheon, Gyeongsangnam-do, he retired from the military as an Army Lieutenant Colonel and earned a Ph.D. in North Korean Studies from the University of North Korean Studies. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Korean DMZ Studies Association and the Deputy Director of the Korea Institute for Peace and Cooperation. As a poet, he was recognized with the Poetry Award in the 322nd New Literature Awards by ‘Literary World’ magazine. He is also an active contributor to various media outlets, including Korea NGO Newspaper.

Cloud Letter

On a piece of white cloud

Floating in the blue sky

I stain it with red paint,

Expressing my feelings

And place an unchanging black dot,

Gently writing a tale of love.

With a deep sigh,

I send it to my beloved.

구름 편지

청천에 흘러가는

한 조각 흰 구름에

붉은색 물감 묻혀

내 심정 물들이고

불변의 옻칠 찍어

사랑 사연 고이 적어

깊은 한숨 불어넣어

내 님에게 띄워보네
