• Federation Global UNaccc organizes culture and art celebration event; honors Dr. Jernail Singh Anand from India with the Honoris Causa degree and Global Giants of Culture 2024 Award along with two medals

Federation Global UNaccc organized a culture and art celebration event on November 11-12, 2024 at Pontifical University Antonianum Rome, for conferring the Award of Honoris Causa degrees and Giants of Global Culture Awards. Nelson Mandela Awardees were also felicitated. Some 50 great women from Europe were also honored with awards and decorations.

Dr. Jernail Singh Anand, from India was conferred the Honoris Causa degree and also honored with Global Giants of Culture 2024 Award along with two medals. The award celebrates his exceptional work in the field of world literature, peace and service to humanity.

In his brief thanks-giving address, Dr Anand thanked Dr. Jeanette Eureka Tiburcio Eva Lianou Petropoulou and the President of the Federation Dr. Rajat Sharma, Pro Vice Chancellor of the Crown University, and made a strong plea that organizations which are working for humanity must not face financial problems. “Governments, if they give grants, the money comes from the people. Why not support such organizations directly?” The suggestion was hailed by the assembly with great applause.

Dr. Anand also raised question, “If the world is not good, as all of us admit, then who is responsible for it?” He added that ‘we need to introduce measures to check the erosion of morality and ethics for which we must introduce the Ethical Alphabets developed by International Academy of Ethics.’

For Example he said, ‘A’ should stand for Almighty, ‘B’ for Balance, ‘C’ for Compassion and ‘E’ for Ethics.

During the 2nd day proceedings, Dr. Anand gave a discourse on ‘Peace as a nourishment for body, mind and soul’, in which he said that it was “the responsibility of global leaders to advance Peace as the Argument for Co-Existence and essential basis for World Peace. He read out a poem which celebrates a Universe of Diversity.

Get ready for disorientation

And discord.

Better try to honor the differentness

Of your partner

And never transgress

His personal space.

When eyes are different

Visions are different

Vision of four eyes

Can never be congruent

And behave like us

Lack basic existential sense.

God too is a lover of beauty

So is man, his great deputy

Only love can ensure peace

In this universe of Diversity.

Dr. Anand also presented a copy of his latest work ‘Philosophia de Anand’ to the CEO of this world event Dr. Jeanette. Later. Dr. Anand was interviewed by Dr. Sabrina Morelli from Well TV, Italy, during which the idea of the University of Ethics was also discussed.

The Notorious B.I.G. said it best, “Spread love, it’s the Brooklyn way.” Confidently, as the space filled, I can confirm that with everyone spreading love in excess from the start, it is indeed the Brooklyn way. As the Sri Ram Janmabhumi approaches while there is increasing tension between Israel and Gaza, it is paramount that we recognize and confront our violent pasts and pray for a ceasefire in Gaza immediately.

To our brothers and sisters in Palestine, we who met at the First Unitarian Church focused our minds on the disunion of the body from pain. We focused on breathing in our hatred, our anger, our natural insecurities, holding it, and releasing it out allowing those feelings to become extinct from our minds eye. This is our life’s journey.  In a Ras Garba dance, everyone chanted, “Ceasefire now” four times, beginning the clarion call that combined with the boundless love commenced a chant filling the space with an ancestral energy that we pray our brothers and sisters in Gaza can feel through these mere words.

During moments of deep silence, stillness, and oneness, we prayed for an end to violence, to war, and to returning to a world where we all treat each other as one large family. As we strive to envision a real world where these events will never have to be held, we invite you to come as you are, to be your truest self, and to help us grow.

In a vibrant confluence of joy and community spirit, we gathered to amplify the call for global peace, with a heartfelt plea for a ceasefire in Gaza. The day was marked by an outpouring of solidarity, led by our Executive Director, Sunita Viswanath, and the inspiring Garnett Losak, Director of Life at the First Unitarian Congregational Society in Brooklyn. Their leadership and welcome set the tone for a space where celebration, practice and advocacy merged into a powerful force for change.

A rich tapestry of diverse practices was shared, each centered on the unwavering goal of peace. The energy in the room was palpable, as practitioners from various backgrounds led sessions that resonated with the theme of harmony and understanding.

One true gift on the day was Pratima Kushmani Shridevi Doobay, a Ceremonial Priestess, sacred artist, and Human Rights Activist from Shridevi Arts. Her voice, presence and guidance brought a profound sense of purpose and connection to the gathering.

The day was further energized by the creative genius of Parijat Desai, an acclaimed choreographer, who reimagined and refashioned Garba and Dandiya Ras into movements that transformed traditional dance into a unifying force for communities working tirelessly for social justice.

Adding to the rhythmic heartbeat of the event was KIirtan with Zander of the BROOKLYN KIRTAN COLLECTIVE. The collective’s soul-stirring melodies and chants provided a sonic backdrop that uplifted spirits and strengthened the communal bond.

This was a day where every smile, every dance step, and every note of music echoed the underlying commitment to human rights and dignity. It was a day where we not only envisioned a world of peace but actively participated in its creation through the joyous power of community and shared aspirations.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that the modern-day threats to peace are extremist ideology-based terrorism, illegal activities by transnational criminal syndicates, maritime piracy, and poverty.

“Natural calamities as a result of climate change, environmental degradation, and the traditional threat of inter-state rivalries based on nationalistic agendas devoid of moral principles and justice happen to be great challenges.”

This he said while speaking to the Heads of Foreign delegates/participants of Exercise Aman 2023 who made a collective call on him here at the CM House on Sunday. Minister Information Sharjil Memon, Minister Labour Saeed Ghani, Minister Local Govt Nasir Shah, Advisor Law Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Sohail Rajput, IG Police Ghulam Nabi Memon, Special Assistant Qasim Naveed, Commodore Mohammad Nasir Iqbal was head of the delegation.

Shah said that `Aman’ meant ‘Peace’ in the Urdu [language] and peaceful co-existence was the centerpiece of Pakistan’s foreign policy. “Our religion Islam also commands all Muslims to establish peace in the world for the peaceful existence of mankind and its living environment; in fact, the word `Islam’ also means peace in the Arabic language which has been chosen by Almighty Allah Himself for this religion which was sent through our Holy Prophet, he said and added peace could be achieved by countering the prevailing threats, therefore countering threats to mankind and the environment where we lived was a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy as ordained upon us by our religion.

The CM said that in this age threats to peace have not increased manifold but have changed their nature and character. “Modern-day threats to peace are extremist ideology-based terrorism, illegal activities by transnational criminal syndicates, maritime piracy, and poverty,” he said and added natural calamities as a result of climate change, environmental degradation, and the traditional threat of interstate rivalries based on nationalistic agendas devoid of moral principles and justice were also a form of threats and challenges.

Murad Ali Shah said that due to the changing nature of threats in modern times, it was not possible for any single nation to single handedly counter such threats, therefore, this required the collaboration of all countries, especially in the international maritime areas. He added that Exercise Aman provided a platform where navies from a large number of countries got together to show their resolve and commitment to collectively counter threats that were threatening the well-being of the human race and its living environment.

The CM said that Exercise AMAN was an initiative of the Government of Pakistan led by the Pakistan Navy to enhance collaboration of all navies of the world to counter the modern-day threats in the maritime arena. (PR)
