The Consul of Italy in Karachi Mr. Danilo Giurdanlla has arranged a sonography machine from Italy to be gifted to the National Institute of Child Health Karachi, the largest public sector children hospital that provides free healthcare for the underprivileged and needy children.

This generous donation was successfully done in collaboration with the Rotary Club in Sicily and Perth. A special ceremony was held Wednesday to hand over this machine with the hope that it will contribute to early detection and healing of those children suffering from various diseases.

Especial thanks were offered to Mr. Giuseppe Pantano, who was a member of RCK Sunset Millennium for many years during his stay in Karachi. He supported many Community Service Projects in collaboration with Rotary Clubs in Italy and raised funds by inviting Musicians and Artists to perform in Karachi.

Prof. Nasir Salim, Director NICH, Prof. Jamal Raza, President NICH Trust and Ms. Shahzadi Mansoor from the Rotary Club were present at the ceremony. They thanked the Consul Giurdanella and Italian friends for their generous support to the NICH. (PR)

The Consulate of Italy in Karachi celebrated the Week of Italian Language by organizing an Italian Story Telling Session for primary school children in collaboration with Paramount Books Pvt. Ltd., Gerry’s Group and Dairyland Pvt. Ltd., also participated as sponsors for the event.

The inspiration behind the initiative was to promote Italian language among young children and introduce them to a foreign language. This year, Italian missions abroad are celebrating the 21st Edition of the Settimana della lingua italiana around the world. Around 85 million people speak Italian as their first language. Italian is the most studied language in the world for culture and tourism.

The Consul General, Danilo Giurdanella, welcomed all the students and teachers from different schools for their wholehearted participation in learning more about Italian language and its culture. The children were narrated a poem L’elfo Elio by Mr. Mattia Sinnico followed by an Urdu translation. The next story was the famous Cappuccetto Rosso, an age-old fable commonly known as the Red Riding Hood, which was narrated in Italian by Madam Antonella Bartolomucci and Mattia, which was simultaneously translated in English for the children. The story telling session was followed by interactive learning activities for the children to acquaint them with the basics of Italian language.

Consul Giurdanella greatly appreciated the effort put in by staff of the Italian Consulate along with local stakeholders to arouse interest in Italian language among young students. The event concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony to appreciate students for participating in the Italian Story Telling Session.  To ensure a true Italian experience in Karachi, the children were served authentic Italian Pizza, which was enjoyed by all.
