A vibrant and spiritually uplifting Gita Sammelan held at the historic Sakhi Baba Aastan in Pano Aqil on December 10, 2025 brought together hundreds of devotees from across Pakistan, with a particularly strong presence from the Meghwar community.

Organized by the Ramdev Sheva Mandal, the day-long gathering showcased devotion, unity and the enduring cultural heritage of the Indus region.

Set in an atmosphere filled with sacred music and heartfelt prayers, the event featured inspiring sermons from eminent spiritual leaders, who highlighted the timeless relevance of the Bhagavad Gita. They described the Gita as a universal guide for humanity—one that speaks across cultures, faiths, and generations.

“The Gita answers humanity’s deepest questions about purpose, identity, truth and existence,” speakers affirmed emphasizing that its teachings on Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Moksha illuminate the paths to selflessness, wisdom, devotion and inner freedom. The Gita, they said, teaches the eternal nature of the soul and the inner battles every human faces. One preacher called it “the science of life and the key to understanding one’s true self,” adding that Krishna’s assurance of compassion and acceptance remains a beacon for seekers everywhere.

Speakers also drew parallels between the Gita’s philosophy and modern scientific understanding, noting its harmony with concepts of mindfulness, self-mastery and the continuity of energy. Its wisdom, they stressed, transcends religion and caste, offering a vision of human unity and shared greatness.

The Sammelan further celebrated Sindh’s deep connection to the ancient Indus Valley Civilization, reminding participants that Vedic traditions have flourished along the Indus River for thousands of years.

“We are the indigenous and ancient people of this land,” community leaders said. “Our roots run deep into the soil of present-day Pakistan, and our legacy reflects centuries of peaceful coexistence, cultural resilience, and contributions to the region’s progress. This heritage belongs to all of us.”

Speakers expressed gratitude for the freedom to gather peacefully, praising Pakistan as a country where cultural expression and spiritual dialogue continue to grow. They reaffirmed the community’s commitment to unity, mutual respect and lasting peace among all people.

The program featured devotional renditions and wisdom shared by renowned spiritual personalities, including Saein Nand Lal Swami, Shrimati Jamonti Devi, Saein Amar Parkash, Bhagat Arian Das, Bhagat Ravi Ramesh, Bhagat Shankar Bhatia, Bhagat Gur Bux Lal and Bhagat Jai Ram Das, whose messages received widespread appreciation.

The Meghwar Panchayat extended warm congratulations to event organisers Lal Chand, Mukesh Kumar, Kapil Chohan, Ashok Kumar, Bhagwan Das and their dedicated team for their exemplary management, discipline and hospitality. Organisers also thanked all participants and district authorities for ensuring a peaceful and well-coordinated event.

Throughout the day, attendees participated in joyful dance, devotional singing, and visited stalls offering religious literature and worship items, which received enthusiastic interest.

The gathering concluded with a collective prayer for Pakistan’s peace, progress, and prosperity. Special prayers were also offered for the people of Gaza, underscoring the community’s enduring commitment to compassion, solidarity and universal brotherhood. (Press Release)

The second Meghwance Samaj Conference, held at Krishna Mandir Pawan Dham in Sadiqabad, District Rahim Yar Khan, marked a historic moment for the community, uniting voices in a powerful call for progress, unity, and justice. The event, celebrated for its impeccable organization and inspiring deliberations, reinforced the Meghwar community’s unwavering commitment to education, social reform, and national integration. The conference commenced with a stirring rendition of Pakistan’s National Anthem, filling the air with patriotism, while a portrait of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the national flag stood as proud symbols of the community’s allegiance to the nation’s founding ideals.

Prominent leaders, including Bhaya Ram Anjum, Kastoora Jee Shad, Seth Kanji Ram, Babu Leela Ram, Manohar Lal, and others, addressed the gathering, shedding light on critical issues facing the community. Discussions centered on strengthening unity, advancing girls’ education, and ensuring women’s equal participation in community affairs. Special attention was given to resolving familial disputes within the Hindu community, particularly concerning the dignified rukhsati of married women, through collective support and mediation. The speakers also highlighted the persistent political marginalization of the Hindu community in Rahim Yar Khan, which, despite being the largest Hindu-populated district in Punjab with over 500,000 residents, has never been granted representation in the Senate or National Assembly—a glaring injustice fueling feelings of deprivation among minorities.

The conference resonated with pride in the Meghwar community’s ancient heritage, tracing its roots to Rishi Megh, a revered figure whose spiritual legacy continues to inspire values of honesty, peace, and resilience. Yet, the speakers did not shy away from addressing the harsh realities of caste-based discrimination, forced conversions, and the desecration of Hindu religious sites. A strong appeal was made to the government to enact stringent laws against these injustices while demanding equitable access to education, employment, and political representation for the community’s youth. The younger generation was urged to embrace education as a tool for empowerment, to uphold their cultural identity with pride, and to actively participate in the struggle for social equality.

A defining theme of the conference was the transformative power of education, with unanimous agreement that no society can overcome poverty without it. The participants stressed that both men and women must be equally educated to ensure holistic progress, with women’s education being the cornerstone of a thriving community. Vocational training and entrepreneurship were identified as essential for economic empowerment, equipping youth to navigate modern challenges. The gathering also reaffirmed the necessity of safeguarding minority rights, insisting that reserved seats must remain exclusive to minority representatives to ensure their voices are heard in legislative forums.

Attended by a diverse cross-section of society—men, women, students, professionals, and elders—the conference showcased the Meghwar community’s collective resolve to forge a future rooted in knowledge, unity, and justice. The event culminated in a heartfelt prayer for Pakistan’s prosperity, peace, and harmony, embodying the community’s deep love for the homeland. With a resounding pledge to prioritize education and social cohesion, the second Meghwance Samaj Conference has set a bold roadmap for the community’s uplift, sending a clear message of hope, resilience, and unwavering determination for a brighter tomorrow.
