Crowned as Miss International India in 2023, Kashish Methwani of Pune, has been selected to join Indian Army

Holding master’s degree in biotechnology, she is also a Bharatanatyam dancer, tabla player, quizzer and debater

Pune, India

She was crowned Miss International India in 2023, but for Kashish Methwani, it was just one of her “bucket list” items that she had to tick off as she knew clearly that it was the armed forces where she truly belonged.

Methwani, who hails from Pune, is joining the Indian Army after completing her training at the Officers’ Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai.

It was not long ago, she had turned down offers from the world of modelling and decided to don the Army’s olive green uniform.

She said her stint with the National Cadet Corps (NCC) during college became the turning point in her life, steering her away from a possible career in modelling and pageantry towards the armed forces.

“I always loved exploring new things. Pageantry was a passion, but I never saw it as a career. During NCC, I marched at the Republic Day Parade, won All India Best Cadet award from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and felt a sense of purpose and belonging. That experience convinced me that the Army was where I truly fit in,” she said.

Methwani, who holds an integrated master’s degree in biotechnology from Savitribai Phule Pune University and also did her thesis at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, even received an offer to pursue a PhD at Harvard University.

“But I decided the army is where I belong,” she said.

Crowned Miss International India two years back, she had several offers from modelling and acting agencies, but she chose to fulfil her “bucket-list dream” of winning a pageant before settling down with her career choice in the armed forces.

After 11 months of rigorous training at OTA, Methwani has been commissioned into the Army’s Air Defence arm, which played a key role in the recent Operation Sindoor.

“For me, it’s about taking one step at a time, giving my best to my unit and to the Army,” she said.

Her father, a former scientist who later joined Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) as a defence civilian, and her mother, a teacher at an Army public school, supported her decision wholeheartedly despite the family having no prior service background.

Apart from pageantry and NCC, Methwani is also a Bharatanatyam dancer, tabla player, quizzer and debater. She also runs an NGO called ‘Critical Cause’.

“I have always explored all dimensions of myself, but it was the NCC that showed me the life I truly wanted,” she added.

At OTA, Methwani excelled in both academics and sports, winning the prestigious AAD Medal for the highest order of merit in Army Air Defence, Sikh Li Regiment Medal in March and Shoot, and several distinctions including Drill and Discipline Badge and the Commandant’s Pen.

She showcased leadership as Battalion Under Officer and later Academy Under Officer, the highest appointment at the academy, and was chosen for Rashtriya Dhwaj Toli at Pipping Ceremony.

A versatile achiever, she also represented the academy in basketball, volleyball, and handball, earned merit cards, and served as the commentary voice and emcee for major events.

‘The Tattoo on My Breast’ is the love story of a Sindhi girl Sadhna whose father was a grain merchant

Sindh Courier

‘The Tattoo on My Breast’ is the debut novel by acclaimed Indian television director and writer Ravi Rai. The story is a mixture of an epic tale of love, passion, emotion, drama and romance set in the times of partition through the eyes of our protagonist women.

The story is set in the 1940’s era, around the time of the Quit India Movement and Independence. A Spanish aid worker named Abella Alejandro had come with the International Red Cross to Nepal after the 2015 earthquake and there she learns about Sadhana’s story, the childish granddaughter of a rich Sindhi grain merchant who was getting married to Prakash, when Rehman, the meek, poor boy living next to Sadhana’s house and was Sadhana’s childhood friend realizes his love for her.

On the other hand, Jinnah and Nehru started displaying their influence on the young and the restless of the yet undivided India, where the several Gurdwara’s Sikh flags are replaced with the green flag of Islam and Prakash becomes a fatality in one such crossfire.

Barely 15 days into her marriage and Sadhana is a widow. And Rehman is back in her life. But little does she know that her radical Hindu father has fixed her marriage to Sunil, a Sindhi millionaire running his looms in Dhaka, which is soon to become East Pakistan.

Story describes the sorrow of separation and make you realize the importance of your loved ones in your life

Sadhana and Rehman plan an escape, but destiny plays a cruel role with the breakout of riots and Rehman is once again late in claiming his love. The Radcliffe line has been drawn and has divided India. The lovers had parted painfully.

Sadhana, now a nurse, is attending to the injured when she meets Sunil, the man she was slated to marry. His brother, Anil is a doctor at the hospital and has fallen in love with the young nurse. But Sadhana’s heart only beats for Rehman. In this hour of difficulty, Sadhana’s grandfather plans a sinister conspiracy and poisons Sadhana’s mind against Rehman; causing her to marry Anil.

And just when connubial happiness begins to set in and Sadhana gets pregnant, Rehman returns for her causing her heart to beat for him once again.

The story is well researched and beautifully executed. The plot and some of the imagery make it evident that the writer used to write dramatic shows, which explains the dramatic plot and graphic visualization. The book gives readers a deep look at the hardship and inequality of suffering around the turbulent times in Indian history. Despite the backdrop, the story is predominantly a love story, and this book is a great gift to romantic book readers. It describes the sorrow of separation and make you realize the importance of your loved ones in your life.

Sunita Shah, an entrepreneur by career and a voracious reader and writer, in her comments on the novel says, “It’s a kaleidoscope of human relations between generations, gender, religion, politics and above all driven by Love. The cultural background of Sindhis, in Sindh. Story is so passionately woven like a spider’s web where every character entangles you till you reach the climax of the story.”

The beauty of Sindhi words used, at various points of conversation with the food, is so nostalgic!

“Sadhana’s confused heart is so relatable….Dada’s leadership and respect in the family. Rehman and Anil’s true love for Sadhana….each and every family member of Sadhana has relatable character for keeping up the scale of story…but what broke my heart was Nilofer’s destiny, no woman deserves this!

“Being a Sindhi and having heard my pre-Independence stories from my grandfather (who was a migrant from Sindh in 1947), the plot connected so well with me. The beauty of Sindhi words used, at various points of conversation with the food, is so nostalgic!”

What will Dr. Anil, who till now was unaware of their undying love, do when he comes to know of Rehman’s presence? Will Sadhana follow her heart or will she bind herself in chains that have always distanced her from her true love? Will Rehman accept a pregnant Sadhana as his soulmate or leave her at the crossroads once again? To know these answers read the beautifully written book by Ravi Rai ‘The Tattoo on My Breast’ which is easily available on Amazon.in offline and online as well.

Khushi has decided to buy land in Indore where will launch next year India’s biggest finishing school venture called – Lifestyle, Image, Personality and Skill Development, and biggest culinary school along with a hostel for the students.

Sindh Courier Monitoring Desk

With the changing times, the Digital world and technology are upgrading very fast too. It is very important for a business to be upgraded as well, which needs new techniques as well. If you do not keep up your business style with the new trend you will not able to take out desired results from your business as well.

Khushi Manglani from Indore also realized that their business also needs certain upgrades as well. Staying with her family in Indore Khushi had done her B.Ed. and Master in Physical Therapy from Bangalore.

Khushi is a back pain therapist who has her own center and along with that Khushi helps her father’s business as well. “I am a Physical Therapist turning into a full-time entrepreneur; apart from being, passionate about Business I am also a gold medalist in marathon running and a fitness enthusiast & do yoga for mental peace as a part of my lifestyle.” says Khushi

Khushi as a person likes to be active and keep herself involved in something or other activity just to keep herself updated. Apart from her own work and helping her father in his business Khushi also likes to read novels and books, swim, and go on adventure hikes and solo trips.

With the demand of the time, Khushi use to do the marketing through offline goodwill and outsourced the services of digital marketing for her business but that was not enough for her. Khushi wanted to understand it to the core. While scrolling through her social media, Khushi came across digital Gurukul and its courses. Khushi that instant decided to pursue the course and she completed her diploma in digital marketing under the mentor Dr. Raj Padhiyar.

Khushi Manglani

This Sindhi girl from Indore has fought all the odds & now building India’s biggest culinary school – Credits Digital Gurukul for the journey

“After my course, I have been confident about the tools & technicalities of the digital world. Before the course, I had to search a lot on the internet and ask people about how certain things are done. The course and teaching have made me very confident,” says Khushi

Khushi wanted to pursue this because she wanted to understand the core of marketing and its techniques. She believes that she can outsource easily for marketing but who would understand her business and needs better than herself.

Along with all these Khushi has also applied for an internship in Social Media Marketing just to brush her skills, even more, she adds, “The experience at Digital Gurukul was amazing.”

Khushi believes, “It’s like doing something is different & doing the same thing efficiently is different.”

This Sindhi girl from Indore has fought all the odds and now building India’s biggest culinary school – Credits Digital Gurukul for the journey

When asked now when she has all the knowledge of digital marketing and already she is an expert in her field what are her future plans for her business, Khushi says, “I felt the need in the society & wanted to solve the problem and started with small workshops in different metros, and B-grade cities and as a result, our students kept requesting for rejoining,

So we decided to buy our own land in Indore where we are making India’s biggest finishing school venture called – L.I.P.S. (LIFESTYLE, IMAGE, PERSONALITY, AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT) and India’s biggest culinary school along with a hostel resort for the students, which will be launching next year. Along with this I will be taking care of all the marketing needs of my business through the online and offline medium.”

Khushi is truly an inspiration for a lot of girls, as she has managed to handle her own work and is extending such a support to her parents as well.
