Sindh government’s Land Reservation Committee approved on Friday April 7, 2023 the allocation of land for Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway, Cambridge School in Tharparkar, Minority’s Affairs Department’s schemes in Tharparkar and some other projects.

The approval was given in a meeting of the Land Reservation Committee held at the Sindh Secretariat under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Secretary Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput.

The Land Reservation Committee approved the reservation of government land for the projects of public purposes including the Hyderabad Sukkur Motorway, 103 acres of land for the M-6 Motorway in Jamshoro, 48 acres for the M-6 project in Hyderabad and Matiari.

It also approved to reserve 5 acres of land for the construction of Cambridge School in Tharparkar, 265 acres of land for the investment department for the future expansion of the Economic Zone in Dhabeji, 12 acres of land for the Minority Affairs Department surrounding Churrio Temple in Nangar Parkar.

Chief Secretary Sindh directed all the departments to complete all the projects on time. He said that after acquiring the land, all the departments should start their projects and they should be completed on time.

Senior Member Board of Revenue Baqaullah Unner, Secretary University and Board Mureed Ahmed Rahimoon, Secretary Investment and others participated in the meeting. The respective Commissioners including Commissioner Hyderabad and Commissioner Sukkur and deputy Commissioner participated in the meeting through video link. (PR)

In order to complete the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway on priority basis, Sindh government has decided to post Land Acquisition Officers in Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad and Sukkur divisions to expedite the land acquisition process.

The National Highway Authority (NHA) has also planned to complete construction of the M6 Motorway in two years.

The decision of posting the Land Acquisition Officers was taken in a meeting regarding M6 Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Secretary Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput.

The meeting was attended by Senior Member Board of Revenue Baqaullah Unar, Secretary Finance Sajid Jamal Abro, Secretary Forest Dr. Badar Jamil Mandhro, Commissioner Hyderabad Bilal Ahmed Memon, officials of NHA and concerned Deputy Commissioner.

Chief Secretary Sindh Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput said that M6 Motorway is an important project and for this the acquisition of land in Hyderabad and Shaheed Benazirabad will be completed on priority basis.

To complete the M6 project at a faster pace, the meeting decided to appoint Land Acquisition Officers and for this Senior Member Board of Revenue and Commissioners have been directed to recommend senior officers for this purpose.

The Chief Secretary directed the Senior Member Board of Revenue and Divisional Commissioners to supervise the land acquisition process.

Commissioner Hyderabad Bilal Ahmad Memon informed that permission has been given to the NHA to start work on the motorway in Hyderabad and Jamshoro districts.

NHA official informed that the work on the motorway will be started from Jamshoro and Rohri sides so that the motorway can be completed within 24 months. He further informed that a bridge will be built between Jamshoro and Hyderabad on the river Indus. It was further informed that the forest department will plant saplings along the M6 motorway. (PR)

All the funds earmarked for Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway have been frozen in six districts of the province while Sindh government will approach the federal government to issue red warrant against the absconding Deputy Commissioner of Naushehro Feroze district, who is allegedly involved in embezzlement of the funds.

“Deputy Commissioner or Assistant Commissioner alone cannot do such a big job, and bank and National Highway Authority staff may be involved in the scandal,” Administrator KMC, Sindh Government Spokesperson and Adviser on Law of Sindh government Barrister Murtaza Wahab said addressing a press conference at Sindh Assembly Committee Room on Monday.

Murtaza Wahab said that with reference to the fact-finding inquiry regarding the misappropriation of funds allocated for lands in Matiari district, the Chief Minister is determined to take action against the alleged fraudsters. “The committee has confirmed the irregularities in the preliminary report and a Joint Investigation Team was formed under the chairmanship of the Sindh Home Secretary. During the inquiry, the Sindh government froze the funds allocated for the motorway in six districts,” he said adding that the assistant commissioner had obtained bail from the court, but later he was also taken into custody.

“So far 420 million rupees have been recovered and further inquiry is going on,” he said.

Murtaza Wahab said that some officers of the bank have been detained and some private people are also involved. “The FIR has also been registered in Naushehro Ferroz district. The Deputy Commissioner has fled the country on November 18. Now it has been decided that the anti-corruption department will contact the federal government so that a red warrant can be issued for arrest of DC through the Interpol.”
