Nari Lachhwani, a seasoned poet, singer, actor and broadcaster from Hirdaram Nagar (Bairagarh), Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh state of India, shares his fresh poem.

Nari Lachhwani, born in a refugee camp and based in Bairagarg (Hirdaram Nagar), Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh state of in India, is a seasoned poet, singer and actor. His parents had to migrate to India leaving ancestral abode in Sindh due to partition of subcontinent in 1947. He served at All India Radio as announcer and is a well-known figure in literary and performing art circles of India. He has performed in dozens of stage plays and some movies, and also released some music albums. Mr. Nari Lachhwani continues his literary, social and cultural activities even today.

The Wedding Night

Beloved,

You are January 1st

And

I am December 31st.

So far from each other,

Yet so incredibly close!

When,

At midnight,

You come and touch me,

In that very moment,

We embrace and become one,

We merge into each other.

Between us,

There’s no room

For anyone else’s presence,

Or

For the existence of another.

But when,

We separate,

Carrying different identities,

Then?

The greatest distance arises between us!

And

365 kinds of obstacles/distances

Stand tall in between,

And only after overcoming them,

Do we reunite again.

Beloved,

You are January 1st

And

I am December 31st,

So far from each other,

Yet so incredibly close!

پريـ ،

تون پھرين جنوري آھين

۽

مان 31 ڊسمبر

ھڪ ٻئي کان ڪيترو پري

۽

ھڪ ٻئي جي ڪيترو ويجھا

جڏھن

اڌ – رات جو

تون اچي منھنجو ھٿ جھليندي آھين

 *اسين ٻئي ٻٓکِجِي*

 *ھڪُ ٿي ويندا آھيون*

اسانجي وچ ۾ ڪنھن ٻئي جي موجودگيءٓ

يا

ڪنھنجي وجود جي

ڪا بہ گنجائش نہ ھوندي آھي

پر، جڏھن

الڳ الڳ سُڃاڻپ/وجود کڻي

وڇڙندا آھيون ـــــ

تڏھن ؟

ٻنھي جي وچ ۾

گھڻي مان گھڻو فاصلو

پيدا ٿي ويندو آھي
