Kyrgyzstan has repatriated more than 600 people from Syria and Iraq, announced Marat Imankulov, the Secretary of the Security Council, on Kyrgyzstan’s “Birinchi Radio.”

“Around 800 Kyrgyz citizens, along with their families, were in Syria. Some died there, some escaped, and some are in prisons in Syria and Iraq. We had to bring back their wives and children. About 60 people remain in the camps,” he said.

According to him, psychologists, representatives from the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Health, religious leaders, and theologians have been working with those who returned to Kyrgyzstan. They are undergoing rehabilitation.

“This was a presidential order, and I support it. All state bodies participated in the repatriation. These are our citizens, whether they are good or bad. What is the fault of the children? Who, if not the state, will take care of them?” he said.

The Secretary of the Security Council also identified where the greatest threat in the terrorist-extremist realm for the region’s countries comes from.

“The greatest danger in the terrorist-extremist realm comes from Afghanistan. I am far from suggesting that the Taliban will attack us or Uzbekistan, or Tajikistan.

They have many unresolved problems within their country, economic issues, and food security concerns.

On their territory are those who fled from Syria or Iraq. Also, there are members of international terrorist organizations. If these organizations were not funded from outside, they would have ceased their activities long ago,” Imankulov explained.

The USA provided assistance in the return of the widows and children of ISIS fighters from Western Asia countries, kindly providing a plane for their repatriation.
