Dr. Alex Bellem, Assistant Professor and Language Program Coordinator at Aga Khan University, London who visited Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science & Technology (SZABIST) Karachi on December 5th, 2022, took keen interest in Sindhi language and the issues related to it.
Dr. Alex Bellem is a linguist specializing in comparative-theoretical phonology (and the interface with phonetics) and Arabic dialectology, with expertise in the languages and linguistics of the eastern Mediterranean and contiguous regions.
During her visit at SZABIST, the issue of multilingualism and teaching of different languages came under discussion. “She took keen interest in Sindhi language and issues related to it elaborated by Sindh Abhyas staff of SZABIST,” said a post on LinkedIn page of SZABIST.
Regarding the question of possibilities of collaboration in research and education with SZABIST, she responded, “I am still learning about Pakistan. I am observing and noting who to meet when I come here next time. Also these meetings will help me what to do when I come here again.”
