Ashfaque Ali Zardari

The book ‘You Can Win’ is written by Shiv Khera, who is an Indian author, activist and, motivational speaker and best known for his works on self-help to win. He inspires and motivates people, making them realize their true potential. He has the art to motivate and lead them towards destination with authentic steps. Shiv Khera is author of sixteen books and ‘You Can Win’ is one of the bestselling books, which has sold over 2.7 million copies in sixteen languages.

The book contains a chapter on importance of attitude. Shiv Khera writes that attitude decides how well we do.

In this chapter importance of attitude and our behavior has been shown and that how attitude maintains or shapes to deal the things in great way.

As William James of Harvard university says, “ The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.” In this chapter, power of positive and negative thoughts have been disclosed, like positive thinking empowers people to achieve new heights, negative thinking propels people towards self-destruction.

Our attitude has great role in every corner of our life – jobs, business and even our social lives also are influenced by attitudes; our attitude is the contributor of our success, success lies in the way of attitude. According to Harvard university’s study when a person gets a job or promotion, eighty five per cent of it is because of his attitude, and only fifteen percent because of intelligence and knowledge of specific facts and figures. An opportunity only knocks once, the next one may be better or worse, but never the same one, that is why it is so crucial to make the right decision at the right time. A decision at the wrong time becomes a wrong decision.

Factors that determines our attitude

*Environment

*Experience

* Education

These are the main leading factors which shape attitude. If your attitude is negative, your life is restricted.

Therefore build a positive attitude for reaching your destination. The winner has a solution for every problem; for every solution.

8 steps to attitude change

Look for the positive

You need to become a seeker of good; you need to focus on the positive in your life. Start looking for what is right in a person or situation instead of looking for what is wrong.

Make a habit of doing it now

We don’t achieve excellence because of our own lack of vision, He slept beneath the moon he basked beneath the sun, he lived a life of going to do and died with nothing done.

Procrastination is the main factor that leads to a negative attitude.

Develop an attitude of gratitude

Many of us are blessings are hidden treasure count your blessings and not your troubles.

Knowledge is not power

We are often told that knowledge is power, not really knowledge is information, its potential power and it becomes power only when it is acted upon. Knowledge is potential power; wisdom is real power.

A person can and will be, successful with or without formal education if they have the 6Cs:

  • Character
  • Conviction
  • Courage
  • Commitment
  • Courtesy
  • Competence

Build high self esteem

If you want to build high self-esteem, quickly, one of the fastest ways is to do something for those who cannot repay you in cash or kind. This describes that when self-esteem goes up, we become more productive everywhere.

Stay away from negative influences

Negative influences are negative people, drugs, alcohol, pornography, profanity etc. All negative influences pull people down.

Winners versus Losers

  • The winner is always part of the solution; the loser is always part of the problem.
  • The winner always has a plan; the loser always has an excuse.
  • The winner says “let me do it for you”; the loser says, “that is not my job.”

Action steps

You may be disappointed if you fail, but you will be doomed if you do not try.

Success winning strategies

In this chapter readers would have exposure the essential things to be thought about, rather than unimportant things, which you don’t need in your life. The authentic, success winning strategies have been penned in this chapter. Mostly I observe in this chapter suggestion about reading stories of the most successful people, they have good impact on us psychologically and mentally. This is one of the thought provoking, that “no wonder we hear of some celebrities and billionaires taking drugs and committing suicide because they feel emptiness internally.”

My opinion

Over all this book is enthralling, this book must read by everyone, for the efficiency of reading as well to perish mental illness related to success. The great lines, I have learnt from this book that, we should struggle for excellence, not perfection. I want to suggest read this mind mapping self-help book. Actually I have shared the opinion of some the particular and mostly recommended.
