The Egyptian club Al-Ahly, the club of the century in Africa, achieved the twelfth title in its favorite continental championship, continuing to lead the record for winning the most important competition. His Swiss coach, Marcel Kohler, also continued his successes by adding a new title that he recorded with the Red Giant.

Al-Ahly won the Champions League title after defeating the Tunisian team Esperance on Saturday evening 1 – 0, after a draw in the first leg in Rades, Tunisia. Within two years of taking charge, the coach succeeded in winning 8 local and continental titles. Today, Kohler and his club won the African Champions League title for the second time in a row, after being the champion of the last edition against Wydad (Morocco). These achievements are attributed to the stability of the board of directors led by Mahmoud Al-Khatib, and the battalion of players, among whom Al-Ahly young goalkeeper Mustafa Shobir, who achieved 9 clean sheets.

Al-Ahly of Egypt ended a distinguished series for Esperance of Tunisia, a few minutes after the start of the two teams’ match, in the second leg of the African Champions League final at Cairo Stadium. Al-Ahly scored the lead goal in the 4th minute with the header of its player and team captain, Rami Rabia, which hit the foot of defender Roger before accidentally entering his team’s goal. Esperance has not conceded a goal in the African Champions League since December 1, 2023, when it was defeated by Sudanese Al Hilal (3-1) in the group stage, after which the Tunisian team kept a clean sheet for 9 consecutive matches.

Egypt-Club-Sports-1Al-Ahly of Egypt raised its tally, in the race for the most crowned continental titles among world clubs, to 26 titles, by winning the African Champions League. Al-Ahly maintained the African Champions League title for the second season in a row, and the Red Giants will play the African Super Cup against their rival Zamalek, which won the Confederation title at the expense of Morocco’s RS Berkane.

Real Madrid tops the ranking of teams winning continental titles, worldwide, with 29 championships, and is trailed by Al-Ahly, with a difference of 3 titles. But the royal team will be able to restore the difference to what it was, when it faces German Borussia Dortmund, next Saturday, in the Champions League final, at Wembley Stadium in the British capital, London.

Al-Ahly also guaranteed participation in the Intercontinental Cup, and it will not be the only Arab team to participate in the Intercontinental Cup, after Al-Ain (UAE) secured the first ticket when it won the AFC Champions League title, earlier to tonight’s match in Cairo after defeating Japan’s Yokohama Marinos 5-1 to compensate for its loss in the first leg, 1-2. New Zealand’s Auckland City also reserved its place in this tournament after winning the OFC Champions League title.

The European champion between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, the CONCACAF champion, and the South American champion will participate in this tournament. FIFA did not specify the final date for the tournament, which will be held beginning this year, after the decision to hold the Club World Cup every four years with the participation of 32 clubs.
