Merry-go-rounds
They’re whirling children’s dream
In a wonderful amusement park
Wooden horses go round and round
Forests are withering away
The age of cutting trees
Is seemingly an age of living in a Wonderful Park
When the wind gusts
Smog, smog, becomes children’s gloom
Capitalists sacrifice land, trees, and air
In pursuit of economic boom
Smelly smoke
Is loitering around the world
The dream of Merry-go-rounds
Ends up killing skylarking
As smog goes round and round

A Dream— To Khédija Gadhoum
Now, a persevering woman poet
Opened her “Terra incognita”
Reading lyric poems Reading the course of one’s life
Dreaming of Moving out of Tunisia Through the border
Using French, Spanish, English
Traveling in the kingdom of the West
Spreading the hope that Bloomed in the United States of America
A soft but sturdy Desert rose
