A few days back I was shocked to know about an incident that took place in a locality near Ratodero grid station. According the reports a 4-year old girl fell down in an open manhole and lost her life.
Because of such open manholes, several incidents happens all over the Sindh. These incidents occur mainly due to municipal bodies’ irresponsibility who do not place covers on the manholes resulting in loss of human lives.
Government should take strict notice of these incidents and ensure the availability of gutter lids in all cities of Sindh.
A large number of open manholes in almost every city and town of the province have become death traps for pedestrians and motorists alike.
The media often reports about open manholes and the incidents occurring across the country but unfortunately the municipal bodies do not pay heed to such reports.
