China
The 1st Beijing International Poetry Film Spring Festival Gala 7th Feb 2024, with World Poetry Movement participation, including iconic poet Fernando Rendon, the WPM General Coordinator.
Russia
Poet Vadim Terekhin, WPM Continental Coordinator, has attended a meeting at the State Duma of the Russian Federation, in the LDPR faction (in the presence of deputies of all factions). The conference was held on the problems of writers: social status, seniority, accrual of pension points, forms of employment when writing fiction, introduction to the classifier of the profession “writer” and many others. Representatives of all writing communities were invited to the meeting.
Cuba
Poet Alex Pausides , WPM Continental Coordinator , Cuba, called for World Poetry Movement in Cuba, within the Havana International Book Fair, WORD OF THE WORLD festival dedicated to PALESTINE, on February 17-24, in the context of the 32nd Havana International Book Fair, which will take place from February 15 to 25, 2024: “We invite all poets who are willing to raise their voices for world peace and in solidarity with the people of Palestine, under occupation for decades, now brutally attacked by the Zionist state of Israel. The event is in Havana from February 17 to 24. With poetry readings and our most energetic demonstration of solidarity, we will be next to those who suffer aggression, humiliation and death, in a genocidal action of ethnic cleansing and extermination of an entire people… Long live World Peace! Long live Free Palestine!”
Poems can be sent in video, audio and as Word texts, to be screened and read publicly at the Word of the World Poetry Festival of the Havana International Book Fair. Egypt
The World Poetry Movement – Egypt organized an evening (Palestine is our poem) with the live participation of the two poets Dr. Hanan Awwad and Deema Mahmood, with the broadcast of the songs of the late musician, engineer Riyad Awwad, and the reading of the poems of the resistance poet Jack Hershman, translated by Ali Abu Khattab, and the poems of the poet Naomi Shehab Nay, translated by Deema Mahmood, and the WPM’s national coordinator in Egypt, Ashraf Abou l-Yazid, presenting the story of his poem (A Song for a Child).
