Trained staff conducted counselling on birth control and free medical camp
Population Planning Department plans to organize such event every month at different places of Tharparkar district

Mithi: The Population Welfare Department of district Tharparkar organized a day-long ‘Family Health Festival’ in Dharmani colony of Mithi a couple of days back to create awareness among the people about the benefits of population planning.
The counselling session and a free medical camp were the main segments of the event where the trained staff of the population welfare department briefed the men and women about the advantages of family planning. The male and female visitors were examined and after conducting the checkup, various contraceptives were distributed among them free of cost. The print material on reproductive issues was also distributed.
A large number of people – male and female, visited the festival and took keen interest in knowing how to prevent the ailments prevailing among the women of Tharparkar.
On this occasion, Aijaz Ali Siyal, District Population Welfare Officer, told that his department has planned to organize such kind of event under the Accelerated Action Plan every month at different places in Thar like entire province.
He said that the people will be given free counseling and contraceptive material to control the abnormal growth of population that not only puts burden on national resources but also adversely affects the economy of families. “Low birth with certain gap will help the parents to grow their children in a healthy manner. It’s more beneficial for poor parents as they can take care of health and education of their children in a better way,” he said and urged the people to participate in such event in maximum number and avail the free opportunities.
The visiting people of civil society hailed the population welfare department for organizing the festival.
