One-day training workshop on human rights awareness was organized in Mirpurkhas

There was a huge lack of human rights propagation, correct knowledge and awareness in the society whom should be contacted for solving problems and protecting human rights.

This emerged at a one-day training workshop on human rights awareness organized in Mirpurkhas on Sunday April 9, 2023 by Asher Masood & Associates Karachi in collaboration with Human Rights Department, Sindh.

Speaking at the workshop, Asher Masood said that the Provincial Human Rights Department was taking commendable steps to promote and enhance the human rights of common people.

Human-Rights-Workshop-Sindh-Courier-1He said that every human being has equal rights envisaged in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Pakistan is signatory to it.

“The Human Rights Department has made laws for the protection of human rights according to international commitments,” he added.

The workshop imparted training to the police officials, lawyers, social organizations’ officials about Domestic Violence Act 2013, Harassment Act 2010, Sindh Child Marriage Act 2013, Human Rights Act 2012 and some other important laws.

Member of the Provincial Human Rights Vigilance Committee Abid Lashari said that the Sindh Government has a Human Rights Department which is empowered to protect and promote human rights in the province.

The purpose of the institution is to promote awareness of human rights, enable the public to claim and exercise their rights, train and educate relevant authorities to fulfill their duties within the framework of law.

The Police officer Abdul Hameed and others said that the training was very beneficial for the police officers, generally, Police officers get very few opportunities for training about new laws.

He said that it was a great opportunity to learn with people from all related walks of life. On this occasion, the appreciation certificates were given to the Police officials, lawyers and social reform leaders.
