It is disheartening to witness instances of disrespect towards elders within families
In this modern era, as days pass by, it seems that people are becoming increasingly exhausted with relationships, and the reverence for elders is fading away. The core issue lies in their mentality and a certain mindset that money and status put them above any authority, including that of their elders. They no longer value or heed the advice and decisions of their elders. It is disheartening to witness instances of disrespect towards elders within families.
While disagreements are inevitable, respecting our elders should remain a timeless value ingrained in our hearts. Respect is not synonymous with agreement. We may hold differing opinions and beliefs, but it is essential to express them with courtesy and open-mindedness.
Disrespecting elders can have adverse consequences beyond the immediate family. It can lead to a breakdown of the intergenerational connection, diminishing the sense of continuity and cultural heritage.
Engaging in constructive dialogue with elders enables us to learn from their perspectives and encourages them to understand our viewpoints as well. Such exchange fosters mutual respect, tolerance, and unity within the family.
Regrettably, respect and shame seem to have taken a backseat as people unapologetically unleash their unfiltered emotions with boisterous voices and abusive language. This disheartening trend calls for urgent attention, and address this alarming trend and seek ways to foster a more compassionate and respectful society.
