Three experts of Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tando Jam, representing their institution, made presentations at the 7th International Conference on Palms and its Products held in Abu Dhabi under the theme “Sustainable Date Palm Production”.

The 3-day international conference was attended by experts from 42 countries, and it was first time that Sindh Agriculture University represented the country.

The SAU delegation consisted of Dr. Aijaz Hussain Soomro, Director, Institute of Food Sciences and Technologies, Dr. Shehzor Gul Khaskheli, and Dr. Aasiya Akbar Panhwar who presented research papers on Date Palm and the by-products.

Dr. Aijaz Hussain Soomro presented his paper on “Functional and Sensory Properties of Mozawati and Aseel Dates”; Dr. Shehzor Gul Khaskheli reviewed the “Preparation and Quality Evaluation of Date Jam during different storage temperatures”, while Dr. Aasiya Akbar Panhwar presented her paper on “Physico-Chemical and Organoleptic Characteristic Biscuits enriched with dried date powder”.

The participants and investors from different countries showed interest in making biscuits using date palms at the industry level.

Investors and experts from different countries, including Pakistan emphasized enhancing the link between Sindh Agriculture University and industry. The conference was attended by 475 experts from around the world. (PR)
