People in Johi Tehsil of Dadu district are deprived of their basic right of irrigation and drinking water

Awami Phoriat Tahreek, the labor wing of Awami Tehreek, organized a rally on Sunday July 21, 2024 to lodge protest against the acute shortage of water for drinking and irrigation purpose in Johi tehsil of district Dadu.
The rally started from local Press Club and after marching through different roads ended at main roundabout of the Johi town. The local leadership from different political parties, social activists and persons from different walks of life participated in the protest.
Speaking to the participants of the rally, Ghulam Rasool leghari, central leader of Awami Porhiat Tahreek said that, people of Johi are deprived of their basic rights of irrigation and drinking water. He said Awami Porhiat Tahreek will always be with people of Johi to reclaim their basic rights.
Wafa Birhamani, another central leader of Awami Porhiat Tahreek said that if the concerned authorities did not provide irrigation and drinking water to the residents of Johi, the larger protest movement with participation of women workers would be launched. He also demanded repair of electricity transformers to supply electricity in searing heat in the area where the transformers have got fault.
Akbar Panhwar, political and social activist said that the economy, livelihood and business of people of Johi have been destroyed due to unavailability of the irrigation water as the economy of this area is based on agriculture. He demanded restoration of due share of canal water to Johi.
Sawan, Babar, Ghulam Qadir Leghari from SUTP, Khadim Bahoto, Younis Solangi, Khalil Arif Soomro and others also spoke to the rally.
