Dadu police have first time reached to riverine forests and destroyed over 50 hideouts of dacoits – SSP Dadu

Sindh police have launched a massive operation against dacoits in the forests of Katcho (Riverine) area in different districts of the province.

The main focus of the operation is the riverine areas along the Indus River in Dadu, Naushehro Feroze, Nawabshah, Khairpur, Matiari and Jamshoro districts in view of the probable movement of bandits from Kashmore Kandhkot and Ghotki districts where an operation is already underway.

Dadu- Anti-Dacoit Operation-2As a part of anti-dacoit drive, search operation, patrolling and watch, led by respective SSPs have begun in riverine areas.

SSP Dadu Abdul Khaliq Pirzado, who is leading the operation in his district told that more than 50 hideouts of bandits have been destroyed so far. “These include 30 hideouts in first search operation some three days back, 10 hideouts a day back and 12 hideouts destroyed during third search operation launched today (Wednesday).”

Dadu- Anti-Dacoit Operation-3“Similarly, 30 suspects have also been arrested during search operation in Katcho area of Dadu district and 20 of them were released after interrogation and 10 are still under investigation,” SSP Dadu Abdul Khaliq Pirzado told this scribe.

Meanwhile, in order to arrest the dacoits, the police of Naushehero Feroze, Nawabshah and Jamshoro districts have also continued their strict watch and patrolling in the areas of Katcho along the Indus River.

Dadu- Anti-Dacoit Operation-4This is first time that Dadu police succeeded to reach in forests of Jhaloo and KT Jatoi as police failed to reach there in the past during raids and search operations.

Heavy contingents of police including a number of DSPs and SHOs of different ranges, armed with modern weapons and armored vehicles, participated in operation.

Dadu- Anti-Dacoit Operation-5Actions were taken on the possible hideouts of criminals in some areas of Moundar, Ismail Ja Bhan and KT Jatoi, Jhaloo, Nau Dero, Purano Dero, Aminiani of Katcho area.

SSP said that in addition to ongoing operation, raids were conducted at various places in the limits of Ismail Ja Bhan police station a few days ago to arrest the accused and other criminals wanted in the cases of humiliating the youth and setting fire to the houses of the villagers.

He said that the purpose of the search operation is to prevent the villages from becoming a haven for criminals.

He said that during the operation, the wanted suspects could not be traced, however, the sweep operation against the criminals will continue time to time until the results are obtained.

SSP said that Dadu district was connected with Naushehero Feroze, Jamshoro, Khairpur Mir’s, Nawabshah, Qambar ShahdadKot and Larkana districts hence Dadu police have intelligence networking of information with SSPs of these districts.

He said that Dadu police have sealed the areas and started strict watch in Katcho area to monitor the movement of criminals.

He said that more police personnel was mobilized in Katcho area and 15 check posts were established in Jhaloo, Moundar, KT Jatoi areas police stations in Dadu district.

While, Naushehero Feroze , Jamshoro and Nawabshah police have also started a search operation after arresting the dacoits in the areas of Katcho along the Indus River.

“Raids continue in different areas of Katcho area along Indus River to arrest the persons in Shaheed Benazirabad Range,” Muhammad Younis Chandio, DIG Shaheed Benazirabad Range told this correspondent.

Dadu- Anti-Dacoit Operation-6DIGP Younis Chandio said that there was no any ‘No Go Area’ like Kashmore Kandhkoat in Nausheher Feroze district but in view of probability of dacoits’ movement from Kashmore to this area, a search operation with fully equipped police has started in dense forests along the Indus River in the areas adjacent to Naushehro Feroze district bordering Sukkur and Larkana regions.

According to Naushehero Feroze police, 10 suspects have been released after investigation and arrests of more criminals are ongoing.

Jamshoro district police have also started a search operation in the dense forests of Kundah, Khanoth, Rajri, and Manjhand forests along the Indus River under the supervision of SSP Jamshoro Dr. Farrukh Raza Malik to arrest the dacoits.

“10 police pickets have been established and the police force has been increased,” SSP Jamshoro Dr. Farrukh Raza Malik told this correspondent.

“Checking has also been started on Jamshoro Link Roads and Main Jamshoro Sehwan Road,” he said.

“Five bandits have been arrested with weapons from different areas of Jamshoro district and more raids are going on,” he added.

Meanwhile, DIGP Hyderbad Syed Pir Mohammad Shah said that it was stern action against criminals in Hyderabad range that situation has remained peaceful in Katco area but even then search operation has started in the forests of Matiari, Hala, Jamshoro, Dadu to arrests the dacoits.

“Actions are being taken against the criminals on the basis of intelligence and other information,” Pir Muhammad Shah said.

“Without any interference or pressure, purely on merit basis, the police have continued the actions against the criminals in Sindh,” IGP Sindh police Ghulam Nabi Memon told this correspondent.

“No leniency will be given to any criminals and the police operation is going on in the forests of Sindh to arrest the dacoits, which will continue until the full results are obtained,” he said.

SSP Nawab Shah Mehzor Ghori said that there was no any ‘No Go Area’ in forests of Nawabshah but in view of situation of upper Sindh, police were activated in Katcho area to arrest the criminals.

Dadu- Anti-Dacoit Operation-7In this regards, former IGP Sindh Ghulam Shabir Shaikh speaking to this correspondent suggested that SSPs should be free and posted on fixed target and tenure basis. “If they failed to control crime, they should be surrendered from the province.”

Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh said that dacoits mostly take routes to Balochistan or Punjab and interior districts of Sindh through riverine areas hence it needs to activate the police of Dadu, Naushehero Feroze, Khairpur Mir’s, Nawabshah and Jamshoro districts with targeted operations with continuity.

According to DIGP Sukkur,  Javeed Soonharo Jiskani the targeted operations continued against dacoits in Khairpur Mir’s, Sukkur and Ghotki districts along with Katcho area and police were getting success in arresting the dacoits despite martyrdom of several policemen during encounters.

“Following the incident of attack by a gang of dacoits comprising 8 to 9 members on the worship place and houses of Revari Bagri community near Ghoshpur a few days back, 400 police personnel of Umerkot district arrived at Kashmore Kandhkot district to protect the temples and religious places in the district,” said SSP Kashmore Kandhkoat Irfan Samoo.

SSP Irfan Samoo Irfan Samoo said that search operation in Katcho area against dacoits was going on to get free the kidnapped persons and to arrest the dacoits.
