Secretary Information writes letter to Accountant General Sindh for stopping salaries and allowances of 38 Information Officers till their suitability is assessed by Sindh Public Service Commission

Karachi: The Information Department of Sindh government has stopped the payment of salaries and allowances of its 38 Information Officers appointed on contract basis in the year 2012, till their suitability is assessed by Sindh Public Service Commission.
The action has been taken following the orders of Sindh High Court in a petition filed by one Marvi, challenging the appointments. The appointments in the Information Department were reportedly made during the period when Sharjeel Inam Memon held the portfolio of Information Minister.
Secretary Information Department, in a letter to the Accountant General Sindh stated that ‘the Competent Authority has desired to stop the salaries and allowances of Information Officers (BPS-17) appointed on contract basis in the year 2012’.
Secretary Information requested the Accountant General Sindh to stop the salaries and allowances of Information Officers till the time their cases are referred to Sindh Public Service Commission for assessing their suitability as admissible under the law.
