The Debt of Death – Poetry from Australia

Everyone owes the debt of death to time,
Because life was given,
And thus, it can be taken
By ruthless time.

The Debt of Death
Everyone owes the debt of death to time,
Because life was given,
And thus, it can be taken
By ruthless time.
But we don’t realize
The sheer fragility of life,
Which can be disfigured
By the ebb and flow of time.
Our lives flicker
Like candlelight in the wild wind,
And can be extinguished
In an instant.
