True Loyalty – Poetry from Uzbekistan

The people you trust with all your heart

May not remain loyal to you,

They will quickly find your faults

And may no longer show you love.

True Loyalty

The people you trust with all your heart

May not remain loyal to you,

They will quickly find your faults

And may no longer show you love.

When fortune smiles upon your life,

There may be many people by your side,

But when you make even one small mistake,

They may leave you and walk away.

The friend you once called a friend

May turn into an enemy,

They may sell the secrets you entrusted to them,

And speak sweetly to your face, yet betray you behind your back.

If you ever fall in life,

There seems to be nothing worse,

When your affairs no longer go well,

Everyone else suddenly seems better than you.

But if you always live with goodness

And speak the truth wherever you go,

You will always have your place in this world,

And your worth will be held in high regard.
