NGO Dar-ul-Sukun is interested to establish centers for mentally retarded children at Sir Cowasjee hospital and Sehwan – Commissioner Baloch

Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Muhammad Abbas Baloch inspected on Wednesday two new wards constructed at the cost of Rs.30 million for drug addict persons at Sir Cowasjee Jehangir Institute of Psychiatry in Hyderabad.

On the occasion, he directed the hospital management to expedite the work for making these wards functional and devise a mechanism with the help of police department in which drug addicts roaming around the city would be admitted in the hospital for treatment and providing a healthy environment so that they could get rid of drug addiction and start a new life.

He further directed to renovate the existing wards for drug addicts in hospital and directed the MS of the hospital to categorize the mentally ill patients according to their age and disease and to establish park-like wards with security arrangements instead of keeping them in cages like animals. 

Divisional Commissioner informed that the NGO Dar-ul-Sukun is interested to establish the centers for mentally retarded children in this hospital and Sehwan Sharif under public private partnership and asked the authorities to extend full cooperation to the NGO in this regard.
