A new collaborative program launched in Hyderabad to provide skills training, recreation, and rehabilitation for patients at the Department of Women Psychiatry and Perinatal Mental Health.
HYDERABAD: The Department of Women Psychiatry and Perinatal Mental Health, in collaboration with the ALIF Charity Center of Education and Vocational Institute, held a joint program at on Wednesday to enhance rehabilitation opportunities for women undergoing mental health treatment at Sir Cowasjee Jehangir Institute of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
Attendees included doctors, hospital staff, ALIF representatives, civil society members, and notable guests, including Dr. Jabeen Bhutto from the Department of Comparative Religion and Islamic Culture (SU Jamshoro) and philanthropist Dr. Saba Shah.
Dr. Nisar A. Sohoo, Medical Superintendent of CJ Hospital, delivered the welcome address. Highlighting the department’s progress, Dr. Parveen Channar detailed the history of the Women Ward, its existing facilities, and future improvement plans. In recognition of the institutional support provided by the ALIF Charity Center, the hospital presented Certificates of Appreciation to its representatives.
During the event, Dr. Abida Siddiqi spoke on behalf of ALIF, while Dr. Zeenat M. Ali outlined the goals of the joint project, emphasizing its focus on skill-building and overall quality of daily life for female patients. The program also featured a musical performance by Music Therapist Mr. Ravi Tamboli.
The initiative formally began with a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony, symbolizing a shared commitment to supporting patient rehabilitation, practical learning, and recreational support. Dr. Ambreen Mussarat, RMO at the Department of Women Psychiatry, offered the vote of thanks, while Dr. Sadaf Talpur (Senior Pharmacist) and Ms. Razia Sultana (Rehabilitation In-charge) moderated the proceedings.
