The 3-day International Conference on ‘Chemical Sciences: A Multidisciplinary Approach (ICCS-MA)-2022’ was inaugurated at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur on Tuesday.

The conference has been organized by the Institute of Chemistry in collaboration with Sindh Higher Education Commission, Karachi. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur presided over the inaugural session while Prof. Dr. Muhammad Suleman Tahir, Vice Chancellor, Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology, Rahim Yar Khan was the chief guest. Prof. Dr. Anila Ata-ur-Rehman, Vice Chancellor, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana, Dr. Shahzad Naseem, Acting Vice Chancellor, Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University, Sukkur were the guests of honor.

Prof. Dr. Hamid Rashidi-Nodeh from Iran delivered his keynote lecture on Magnetic Adsorbents for Water Remediation: Recent Advance in Functionalization and Application.

While addressing the session, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said that we are striving, uplifting the region in terms of quality education, research and development with our dynamic team. He hoped that the outcome of the conference will emerged as a great source to guide the research scholars.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Suleman Tahir said that chemical engineering is vital for humanity. Research is more important to get validation and new ideas in the society. It is the basic duty of any University to impart quality education, to evolve and engage the society. “We have different challenges i.e. indigenous and global, as we are far behind from European world.”

Dr. Tahir said we have to concentrate on our indigenous issues i.e. energy, storage devices. “Water is again a global challenge and it is imperative to ensure optimal usage of water,” he said urging that we must concentrate on skill development for socioeconomic development.

Prof. Dr. Anila Ata-ur-Rehman and Dr. Shahzad Naseem also spoke. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhry, Director International Centre for Chemical & Biological Sciences, University of Karachi shared his views via online.

Prof. Dr. Khalida Mahar set out the objectives of the conference and said this conference aimed at to bring the scholars on platform for sharing their experiences, advancement challenges and remedies of indigenous issues pertaining to society.

Prof. Dr. Mushtaque Ahmed Jakhrani, Director Institute of Chemistry presented vote of thanks to participants, national and international delegations.

Eminent scholars Dr. Hairrul Annur Tajudin from Malaysia, Dr. Rilie Yu from China, Dr. Eltayeb Fadul from Sudan, Dr. Muhammad Ahmar Rauf from Miami, USA, Prof. Dr. Chandan Lal, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Shahdadkot Campus, Prof. Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Mashori, Dean Faculty of Arts & Languages, Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Mr. Mureed Hussain Ibupoto, Registrar and large number of teachers, scholars and students attended the inaugural session.
