Now patients of tibia fracture will not go to Karachi for such facility – Dr. Naveed Ahmed Solangi

First time ever ILizarov external fixator of tibia surgery was performed in case of infected Nonunion Tibia at Department of Orthopedics surgery Khairpur Medical College Hospital Khairpur on Thursday.
Dr. Naveed Ahmed Solangi, head of the Department of Orthopedics Surgery Khairpur Medical College, said that with the Ilizarov device the fracture site is distracted and through ligamentotaxis the smaller bone fragments can be reduced and remain stable.
He said that the Ilizarov external fixator is a useful alternative for the treatment of proximal tibia fractures.
He said that in dislocated proximal tibia fractures, the most frequently used treatment is ORIF with screws and plates. Minimally-invasive techniques using external fixation are an alternative.
He said that Dr. Abdul Rasheed Napar, Dr. Mahtab Ali Shahani, Dr. Dost Muhammad Soho and Technician Muhammad Rafiq Mangi and Dad Muhammad assisted a surgery.
He said that before this, such type of Surgery never held in the history of the civil hospital Khairpur, and added that now patients of tibia fracture will not go to Karachi for such facility.
