Karachi: Two officers of Motorway Police arrested three robbers at Northern Bypass Karachi who had fled after snatching mobile phones and cash from some people last night.

The officers of Motorway Police Beat 35 Karachi, Sub-Inspector Khalid Behlim and Sub-Inspector Naveed Nawaz were patrolling near the Northern Bypass when some passersby complained that three persons on a motorcycle had snatched their mobile phones at gunpoint.

Upon receiving such a report, the motorway police officers acting timely chased the robbers riding a motorcycle and asked them to stop. The robbers however opened fire on the officers. In retaliation, the officers fired in the air and used better tactics to stop the motorcyclists. The accused left the motorcycle and tried to flee, but were later apprehended.

During the search of the robbers, a 9mm pistol, six snatched mobile phones and Rs.2100 cash were recovered from their possession.

During the interrogation, the criminals revealed their names as Javed, Gul Khan and Manan. The motorcycle used by the accused was also stolen.

The three accused were handed over to Gadap police station for further investigation.

DIG Motorway Police South Zone Ali Sher Jakhrani and Sector Commander Syed Farhan presented certificates of appreciation and cash certificates to the officers for their timely action. On this occasion, DIG South Zone Ali Sher Jakhrani said that it is their duty to protect the lives and property of the people.
