Shameful incident at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore

Women in Pakistan feel insecure and it is responsibility of government to ensure safety and equal rights to all.

As a man, my head is hung in shame, while seeing the video of barbaric display of almost 400 men at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore on August 14, 2021, the Independence Day, in which a helpless girl was being tossed in the air and was being groped violently by sordid mob.

Ironically speaking, most of us are worried about the Talibans’ mistreating women and children in Afghanistan but what is happening in Pakistan is beyond words. These barbarians amongst us didn’t care for sanctity of girls who are someone’s daughter, sister and wife.

There is a silent rage and helplessness in most of us at the pitiable fate this poor girl has suffered with no fault of her own. Those who are responsible must be brought to Justice, women in Pakistan feel insecure and it is responsibility of current Government to ensure safety and equal rights to all, this toxic patriarchy must end once and for all. Although, the police have reportedly registered FIR against 400 men and were tracing the perpetrators, besides a statement of Prime Minister expressing the concern on incident, it needs drastic actions to ensure justice.
