A large number of employees of Sindh Irrigation Department took out a rally from Kumo Shaheed – the last point at Sindh Punjab border to the engineer’s office of Ghotiki where they staged demonstration for acceptance of demands.

The rally was organized by All Sindh Irrigation Trade Union Federation. Their 12 demands include son quota in jobs, time scale, issuance of health cards, granting residential plots and others.

Addressing the protesters, the trade union leaders – provincial president of organization Abdul Rahim Bharo, General Secretary Iqbal Larik, Irfan Rind, Abdul Rahman Jamali, Liaquat Bajkani and Main Mashooq said that they had apprised PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto of their problems and demands who had issued directives to the Chief Minister, Irrigation Minister and the secretary of department. “Since then we have been calling on Chief Minister, the minister and other officers but none of them did pay heed to our demands,” they said.

The leaders warned of staging long march from Sindh Punjab border to district office Ghotiki and then to Sukkur and Kotri and finally to Bilawal House Karachi if their demands were not met.
