The Thar Foundation distributed cheques of grants among the villagers of Thar Coal Block-2 under its Livelihood and Small Enterprise Development program at a simple ceremony.
Under the Livelihood and Small Enterprise Development program, Thar Foundation has been providing business grants to local communities of Block-2 and Gorano area.
The program is focused to encourage local marginalized communities i.e. differently-abled, household head widows, and eligible poor for developing their enterprises and earn respectable livelihoods.
In this connection, grant cheques were distributed among 22 local villagers including 15 women. The beneficiaries included 7 differently-abled persons, 9 widow household heads and 6 eligible poor.
Grant of Rs.50000 to 75000 is provided to each beneficiary after a detailed appraisal which is followed by a rigorous monitoring and handholding process to ensure productive use of the grant.
Thar Foundation has so far provided grants to 53 eligible beneficiaries of which 29 are differently-abled persons, 14 widows, and 10 eligible poor. 60% of total beneficiaries are women.
