We, the Builders of Civilization

A Poem from Thar Desert of Sindh

It was we

Who penned the Rigveda on the banks of the Indus.

It was we

Who walked the path of Vishwakarma

To democratize knowledge and craftsmanship.

We, the Builders of Civilization

It was we

Who built dwellings from the wilderness

For the cave-dwelling humans.

It was we

Who fashioned the plow

To awaken the bounty of the earth.

It was we

Who invented the spinning wheel

To weave the fabric of civilization.

It was we

Who crafted the very first wheel.

It was we

Who conceived the bullock cart.

It was we,

By the labor of whose hands

Chariots, palanquins, and litters were forged.

It was we

Who penned the Rigveda on the banks of the Indus.

It was we

Who walked the path of Vishwakarma

To democratize knowledge and craftsmanship.

It was we

Who earned the supreme title of Shilpa Acharya.

It was we

Who attained the divine status of Ganesha.

It was we

Who laid down new paradigms of statecraft.

It was we

Who pioneered the journey from antiquity to modernity.

It was we

Who reduced the dogmas of the Varna system to ashes

And bowed only to human intellect and honest labor.
