Week-long Thesis Show begins at Sindh University

Students of Institute of Art and Design showcase their creative artwork at the exhibition

Around 100 projects prepared by the final year students of all three disciplines have been put on display

A week-long thesis show was organized by the final year students of fine arts, textile design and communication design at the Institute of Art and Design, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, showcasing their creative artwork on Tuesday.

The project exhibition was jointly inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of Sindh University Professor Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro and Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU) Nawabshah Professor Dr. Amanat Ali Jalbani.

Both the Vice Chancellors inspected the artworks placed in the galleries of fine art, communication design and textile design department and praised the youth’s art and their hard work.

The paintings and designs were prepared with great effort and care to fulfill the requirement of bachelor degrees in three disciplines. The students gave detailed briefings about their projects to Dr. Kalhoro and Dr. Jalbani.

The paintings, textile designs, documentary films, including various colorful artworks placed in exhibition contained various messages including educational, reformative, psychological, moral, emotional, economic, social, and motivational and self-acceptance.

Sindh-University-Thesis-Exhibition-Sindh Courier-3Speaking on the occasion, SU VC Dr. Kalhoro said that the students of the Institute of Art & Design were very intelligent with very positive and pragmatic approach, and added that efforts were being made to provide the students with the best education along with the best career opportunities and the thesis show was a part of that vision.

He said that artists were actually the ambassadors of peace and love, who expressed feelings through the language of colors and reflected social attitudes and problems with it.

He said that art expression was an effective medium with the help of which positive change could be brought in the society.

“The Institute of Art & Design is a very important and unique institute, where highly qualified artists are providing teaching services,” Dr. Kalhoro said and added that there were many opportunities for successful career in the country and abroad for the students who graduated from IAD.

He said that the beautiful and wonderful projects created by the young students were impressive and that there was a great need for such kind of artwork in the market.

Sindh-University-Thesis-Exhibition-Sindh Courier-4Vice-Chancellor Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Nawabshah Dr. Amanat Ali Jalbani congratulated the Director Institute of Art and Design Professor Saeed Ahmed Mangi and his team for organizing a successful thesis show and said that he was amazed to see the projects displayed at the exhibition, which had greatly mesmerized him.

“The world-class artwork being done in the University of Sindh requires effective marketing,” he said and added that the field of art was very wide, consequently, the future of the passing out students was bright and dazzling.

Earlier, the director of the institute Prof. Saeed Ahmed Mangi welcomed the guests and said that the passing out graduates were leaving the institute as talented artists, textile and communication designers.

Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Hamadullah Kakepoto, Chairman of Department of Sociology Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ali Brohi, Chairman Department of Physiology & Medical Laboratory Technology Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Leghari, Director Institute of Plant Sciences Dr. Rabia Memon, Professor Amar Sindhu, Prof. Dr. Nek Muhammad Sheikh, Dr. Mahmood Ul Hasan Mughal, Dr. Ghulam Ali Buriro, Professor Dr. Lachhman Das Dhomeja, Dr. Sujo Mal, Dr. Jamshed Warsi, Naimatullah Khilji, Hissamuddin Mirani, Professor Nadir Ali Jamali, Professor Umed Ali Rind and many others were present on the occasion.
