Some 42 positive cases of Hepatitis B & C were identified during the screening of villagers in the villages falling in Thar Coal Block-2. The screening was carried out by the teams of Thar Foundation.
Thar Foundation implemented a project of screening and vaccination against Hepatitis B &C in partnership with The Health Foundation in the villages of Block-2 and surroundings.
Under the project 6000 people were screened through door to door service and after the whole process 42 positive cases were identified, Thar Foundation said in a press release issued here.
“Luckily prevalence is lesser than national and provincial averages. These patients are now receiving treatment through Thar Foundation and The Health Foundation,” it said.
Additionally, 2000 people were also administered preventive vaccine of Hepatitis B. During the process, community awareness sessions were also organized.
The project closing ceremony was held on Sunday attended by senior officials of Health Department, team of Thar Foundation and communities from different villages. (PR)
